Lennox Lewis Return Rumors Begin To Grow Stronger

You could see that Lewis was done, in that last few rounds of the Klitschko fight, which the dr scandalously had stopped , because of Klitschko's eyebrow cut, which had been under control for 3 rounds and had not worsened. The reasons began to grow after many protests. I've heard at least 3, at different times, reoportedly from the doctor himself. I think he may have had a bet on the fight.

1. It was Lewis who took the last rounds of the fight - not Klitschko. Not bad for someone who was "done".

2. That eye injury was one of the worst I've seen. The referee has a duty to protect both fighters from permanent injury and he was absolutely right to stop that fight. One more Lewis bomb could have torn his face off.

Apart from Wladmir and Vitali(Both fights would be tough for Lennox), who else in the HW division could actually beat Lennox?

I'm struggling for names here.

I hope he stays retired personally, which i think he will anyway! Why come back when you've got nothing to prove?

I just don't see what Lennox has to gain here. He has one of the few successful post boxing careers lately. He has a great legacy. What is the upside?

I don't think it has anything to do with money (although $50-75 million is nothing to sniff at). Lewis is a shrewd business man. He invested his fortune wisely and has interests in several successful businesses.

If he does come back it'll be because he's bored and/or misses the fame and adulation afforded to Elite fighters.

Lewis seemed to be getting stronger as the fight went on, albeit very gassed looking at the end. Klitschko had cuts to his eyebrow, eyelid and cheek and it looked absolutely terrible. I think he may have also been bleeding from the mouth if I recall. This nonsense will just run and run.

It is fair to say Lewis almost certainly underestimated Klitschko at the time, as have many of his opponents. The vast majority of people at the time thought Wladimir was the better fighter, Lewis included. The fact remains that Klitschko didn't fully exploit an under motivated and aging Lewis, and a Lewis not in the best physical condition he could be in. The cuts were real, and that was Lewis' doing. It was up to Klitschko to prevent Lewis landing those shots that cut him. The win was a legitimate win for Lewis, that is a fact the biased Klitschko fans don't seem to want to accept.

It was clearly a tough fight for Lewis and left people feeling it wasn't finished business. But the actual win itself was a fair decision. What would of happened had it not been stopped is merely speculation. Being cut is part of boxing, the same way as being knocked out is.

I don't believe it was just a 'freak' one-off. There was at least three separate cuts on Klitschko's face. Klitschko does seem to have a very good chin, but obviously his skin let him down. Look at someone like Oliver McCall: not only does he have an exceptional chin, but he doesn't even seem to get cut either. Being knocked out and being cut are part of boxing.

If someone is winning 11 rounds then gets knocked out, it is still a legitimate loss, just as Vitali's was. Does that mean the better fighter on the night won? Maybe not. Was it a convincing win? Of course not. But the childish rubbish should really end.

Vitali's claim to fame was the Lewis fight. He was up on the cards, but Lennox was BUSTING HIM UP. Someone in here has the avatar with Vitali's face next to the Terminator. Those cuts were all caused by legitimate punches. Hence the fight was stopped and Lennox won via TKO. Vitali would have kept fighting, but he would have sustained career threatening injuries in a losing effort. He would have needed a blood transfusion. Lets also not forget that Vitali was a last minute replacement for Kirk Johnson. It forced Lennox to slug it out. So if Lennox actually prepared for Vitali, it would have been an absolute thrashing.

For me that fight right there was 50/50 and either fighter could of won that.
It was obvious Lewis couldnt bomb out Vit cuz he was taking big shots all night and was still there..Lewis on the otherhand can be stopped at any time with a big shot.
Who knows if VK could of finished him off.Lewis was tired and so was VK but lewis to me looked more drained of the two.He slumped back on the his stool just before the fight was stopped.It was anyone's fight from there onwards...
