Would Dawson's body punching be a major factor against Calzaghe?

Mainly asking the Calzaghe fans here.

Has Joe ever been in there against anyone who rips to the body as hard and consistently as Dawson does? A lot is made of Calzaghe relentless punch output, and rightly so, it is extremely impressive. In my analysis of the fight it is this factor that causes me to lean towards Joe to win a decision in this matchup.

Having said that it is well known that body punches can restrict a fighters punch output. It drains your strength and as the fight wears on you find it more difficult to throw 80+ punches per round.

So I am just wondering how Joe fans think he would stand up to Dawson's body punches, given that he has shown that he is able to attack the body with a high degree of success in his outings to date.

Joe's in and out movement makes it very hard to setup and deliver good body shots against him.

I think ill have a bit of an effect in the later rounds like 10-12. But Calzaghe would be so far ahead that, it won matter that he loses 2 of the last 3 rounds. But his hard to get to his body, because you have to leave your head open to go to the body and since he throw so many punches, youll get hit. and he mixed his punches between straight and looping punches is hard to pick his punches too. Calzaghe is very difficult to fight. Ill say if they fight a 116-112 UD for Calzaghe.

I accept that Shawn. I guess it becomes an issue of whether Dawson would be able to take the necessary punishment to land those body shots, which is pretty tough to do.

I think the body work will have an effect on Joe, but i think the boxing ability, an effective jab and his harder and more effective punches will be more of a factor. I think Dawson will unlike Jones and Hopkins, have enough stamina to consistently back Joe off and have him think twice about coming in. Dawson's leaping right hook he looks to throw against southpaws is a lethal weapon.

I think Chad Dawson craps himself when he realizes that Joe Calzaghe isn't a glen johnson clone and is far superior to Glen Johnson. The same middle weight that gave Chad Dawson problems and could have possibly put a dent on Dawson's resume.

He struggled against Glen Johnson, now he is all of a suddenly going to walk through Joe Calzaghe? Oh, okay... LOL

Calzaghe never fought Johnson, in fact he pulled out three times. I like how people take a fight in which a fighter is learning at a young age, and make it seem like he cannot correct those mistakes( which he did). He made tactical mistakes, and he and Eddie Muhammad both admitted that it made Dawson a better fighter. Calzaghe cannot punch, he is not orthodox, his chin is not as good as Johnson's and he doesn't throw volume punches like that. He will not have the kind of power that Johnson had and will respect Dawson's power.

Calzaghe has a tough body and Dawson is not a big puncher....I don't think the body punches would affect Calzaghe's workrate.

did you guys see Enzo smashing Calzaghe's body with the medicine ball on 24/7??.....Calzaghe is tough as nails!

Maybe he would be too embarrassed fighting a guy much smaller then himself. And Glen Johnsons huge losses on his record like 11 losses or more probably wouldn't look good on Calzaghes record for fighting some one with that many losses even though most people know johnson was robbed in alot of his fight...
