Are we making too much outta Margarito?

I'm impressed by Margarito, no doubt about that. But Margarito is also a man who has made a name for himself (''only'') by detroying two of the best from Puerto Rico. Why question to you guys is simple: Is Margarito overrated at the moment?

Keeping it real, he hasn't that much experience in fighting the best from the US or UK, styles make fights and fighters from the US don't go head on and toe to toe like Puerto Ricans and Mexicans are known to do. We know he fought the american Paul Williams who defeated him by a UD.

    Is he overrated?

I think some of his fans overrate him. I have read posts where some of them attempt to make arguemnts for him beating a prime Tommy Hearns. That is a ridiculous notion. How does a man who was getting schooled by Joshua Clottey until he got injured beat a man who is one of the best and hardest hitting Welters in the history of the sport and won titles at several divisions above 147? Ridiculous.

I think Margarito is a very good fighter, certainly an elite Welter but IMO, not the best. I would pick Cotto to beat him in a rematch if he would be able to make the necessary adjustments, Clottey to beat him in a rematch, PWill would also possibly defeat him and I doubt that, if he came back, Floyd would lose a round to him.

So yeah, IMO Margarito is definately overrated on here.

i think people may be overrating him a bit but Cotto was a big victory so its understandable

i dont agree with people saying he will ko Shane, that just aint gonna happen

Margarito does get overhyped sometimes by some of his fans, but the same could be said about other boxers.
Every boxer has his fair share of fans that overrate/overhype them.

to say margarito is overrated means you haven't been watching boxing too long. Well at least not the ww division. Name me another ww with more victories over top 10 opponents than margarito.
