He didn't look quite as cut as he does at 160 but he may need more time and more consistent training camps to adjust to the weight, and work to not just cut fat but to add substantial muscle mass.

That said, he's still a pretty lanky, lean guy for 168. If they got a solid conditioning coach for him to work at camp - or better yet, between camps - to improve his strength and stamina, I think it would make him a much, much tougher fighter. I think the potential is there, it's just not being tapped into.

And he's always sounded like that. It's weird, because he's from the inner city of Little Rock, but sounds like a country boy. I know a lot of people attribute his country accent to living in the south, but other people growing up in his neighborhood don't talk quite like he does... I'm betting it comes from spending so much time in his youth with Ozell Nelson, who is from the country IIRC... they sound exactly alike. Taylor looked up to him and has probably emulated him.

I thought he looked good for a guy coming off back to back losses one of them being a dramatic KO and not fighting in the last 9 mionths. I think they said it was a 271 day lay off. Yes he fought lacy who was in front of him to hit all night long. Yes I agree Jeff was a human punching bag with arms. But Jeff has heart and was coming at Jemrain all night long. he has a power punchers chance and Jermain needed to work on his movement in the riing. He looked good ripping shots to the body and throwing 4 and 5 punch combos. his jab was working for him all night and he was moving well. All though at times i saw him going straight back when he should be taking one step back and then to either his left or right. But for the most part he kept his back side off the ropes and his a$$ out of the corners. he didn't take punishment that was not needed to give punishment. Meaning he didn't take any unecassary shots because of laying on the ropes. I thought he looked good and I would love to see him against a better opponent at 168....Lefty

Defintely the combination of ring rust, mental stature and learning a new fighting style. He in the past was always the bigger man at 154 and 160. he is looking to fight at 168 where he is not going to be the bigger man. he is looking to learn to fight on his toes and with movement side to side not just moving forward and backward. He looked good for a guy learning new things and executing them in the ring. It wasn't a glorified sparring match it wasn't the most entertainging match but they were both defintely trying to win. i would have liked to see Jermain go for the kill but I don't think he had enough left in him. lacy has a tough beard he proved that he can take a terrific beating. just like the Rocky doll ya know...LOL....Lefty

taylor has always fought like that and sounded like that. I noticed that during the countdown to hopkins/taylor 1. But when taylor get hit he starts swinging wildly and drops that left hand, thats why he was having trouble with corey spinks. He went in there trying to over power him, and corey just started boxing him. JEFF LACY ALWAYS HAVE BEEN OVERRATED! who in the world has this man beat. he has no boxing skills at all. he even looked bad fighting peter manfedo. yes peter manfedo!!! jeff lacy is going to be nothing but a stepping stone for prospects in that division.
