i think its a mixture of poor technique and bad balance on reflection

What he does right is that he'll pick off jabs with his right glove, but he doesn't return jabs of his own after that. His overhand right is a bomb but he needs to straighten it out because that won't work at the top level.

yeah but any fighter can land a punch no matter how slow he if you take your eye of the ball momentarily when you get into the latter part of a fight and your reflexes slow down it can be a factor

Pavlik looked a good step slower than Taylor but he still got his punches home and Taylor paid the price for leaving his hands on his chest instead of around his chops where as earlier in the fight it was not so much of a factor cause he was fresh and his reflexes were good

yeah i agree with all of that

imo what he should be doing is parrying his oponents jab then trippling his own jab and following it up with a straight right down the pipe followed by a left hook if he can get it in

I have seen him throw straighter in the past, It may have been the he was trying to go over the top of Monte's jab with his right hand, Wlad and Vitali do jab quite alot and perhaps Haye is just trying to make sure he has the timing down because all Wlad is going to do for the first few rounds if Jab Haye's face off (if they fight) Haye I think will want to counter over the top of Wlads jab with his right
