How does Boxing attract a UFC-type crowd?

The energy at the UFC events are great. Even if there are a bunch of drunk idiots, generally there is an exciting atmosphere in the air.

I notice this a lot at the UK events too. When Haye and Hatton fight they bring a great, lively and energetic crowd with them.

Question is how does boxing in the USA draw that kind of excitement?

the answer is we don't. i wouldn't want to have all those idiots at a boxing event.
as you said, we already have that energy anyway with a lot of the overseas fights.
my guess also is that you never been to a very big fight? because if you listen to the crowd during Cotto v. Margarito they where going wild.
Many pacquiao vs. any Mexican get crazy energy, when any big name Mexican fight really there is a lot of energy.

Give all of the fighters mohawks and piercings, 4 oz. gloves, and the green light to go ahead and cuddle each other on the ground for 5 minutes. Oh, and pour beer down the throats of all the bystanders so they don't know any better.

Honestly, We would need Duran, JCC, Tyson type fighters. We have way more defensive type fighters...I think its needs to be even...Jus a guess

Also we need the H.W division to come back to life

          Don't.

I don't want no **********, Gun wielding, Bush loving, Nascar racing, rednecks ruining my nights viewing on HBO.

UFC is made for WWF fans and 40yr old *******.

You must not watch much UFC, most the crowds boo the **** out of the fighters after a 30 second lul in the action. Has to be one of the worst crowds in sports.

It wouldn't hurt if more boxers had a personality...

Also the boxing community needs to stop giving a **** about how many wins and losses a fighter has and instead focus on their current performances. The huge focus on this takes away the magic of "competition" and all opponents end up being "bums".
