HBO needs new boxing annoncers

They suck they never say anthing about whats going on in the fight they just talk about other fights and other fighters.

Larry Merchant this guy takes 2 hours to say anything then hes always trying to make some grand poetic statement or wrap everything up in a neat little package. "He's one falcon who hears his falconier." are you ****in serious.

Max kellerman asks the ******est questions on the planet. "were you trying to out roy jones roy jones?" This guy gets paid to ask those questions.

You can't make a statement like that without offering a solution to the problem. Who would replace them? Just fire them and put up a Help Wanted sign?

I do think Lampley goes off subject a bit too much. They only do this during boring or one sided fights. Almost always.

Agreed, HBO has the best commentators hands down. I love showtime and other boxing shows, but none even compares. Alot of people hate Merchant, but come on, he has been around for a while and he is being phased out by Kellerman. Kellerman I believe brings great insight into the world of boxing and knows his ****. I though his comment was entirely valid, if you have watched Jones' career, you would discover that no one did to him what Calzaghe did. In effect he did out-roy jones, roy jones (even though I though it was a much closer fight than what the judges had it)

They're all ok imo. Lampley made a lotta cats sick, myself included in the Cotto-Marg fight, but other than a few nuthuggeries here n there I don't mind him. Lennox sucks but he's actually kinda funny wit his horrible commentary. Roy and George were always great when they were on. I have old tapes of when Leonard was doin commentary too. He should do a guest spot sometime. He, Lampley, and Merchant callin the Tyson-Douglas fight is one of my favorite commentary nights of all time. The shock in their voices made it great.

I like Jim Lampley, and Max Kellerman isn't always bad, but Larry Merchant is a alcoholic idiot who never has anything important to say. He comes out of his vodka-induced fog a couple of times during a fight to make an observation that is completely unrelated to the fight. Just give him a few more drinks and put him back to sleep. Harold Lederman doesn't even seem to be watching the fight. Can't we pay him off and get rid of him? Seriously, I would pay him to shut up.

while they're not perfect and sometimes have bad nights overall i think the hbo crew do a good job.

I think Jim Lampley is a pretty spot-on commentator. No one else can crumple a wife's jaw like he can.

The HBO team has got to be one of the best in the business of commentating period.
People like to ***** and complain but they are never satisfied.
Then when the hear the Showtime or versus commentators they complain even more and talk about how HBO's are so much better.. but they suck right?
Many times people forget that their job is to commentate and give their opinions on the fight so I don't know why people get angry when they are not biased in favor of every freakin' fighter they like. It seems that's the biggest issue with them hating them..

At this time, there is no one out there better for the job then Merchant, Lampley and Steward.
If you can name someone that you think deserves to take their job be my guest.
