It's not. Haye could have gotten Monte out of there in one round if he'd let his hands go. However, blasting Monte out wouldn't have done him any favors. Haye seems a bit "safety first" to me. Maybe that's sensible though.

It was safety-first and it was sensible. His poise belies the fact he's had only 23 bouts. Perhaps that arrogance will bite him in the a** but it doesn't hurt his star power.

Again, I'm not sure what the dislike is for. Haye is the type of fighter every boxing fan should get behind. He seeks to induce excitement in a division that lacks it. At worse, a rivalry. So what if the chances of him accomplishing his wish are minimal? The chances of him bringing out the best in Wlad are very high. And win or lose, someone will get KO'ed and perhaps, just maybe, some life may be injected into the HW division. Maybe that is Wlad underlining his status as dominant heavyweight champ (for years now). That's not bad considering nearly all heavyweight runs were said to be in a "weak" division. And if Haye wins then boxing has perhaps its next superstar. What fan hates on that?

On their debut, after moving up a weight, against a decent opponent? You expect too much, Barrett wasn't a bum.

He could. But let's be realistic for a minute, he's been accused of being chinny and it was his first fight against a decent puncher at a new weight. He was cautious and looking to counter in the first round. If he let his hands go it could have gone disastrously wrong...

One thing hopefully we can both agree on - Haye's power is just as good at HW.
