    i sincerely doubt it.

gomez has very good skills but he's no spring chicken either. he's what his late 30's?

besides if yangui diaz can knock him out who's to say a bigger , stronger , better vitali can't?

remember......unlike wlad who has a questionable chin and stamina......

vitali has only been beaten by a top 5-10 ATG heavyweight champion and a shoulder injury while fighting a prime Chris Byrd , a fight he was handily winning against byrd i might add.

      .
That loss to Diaz was a fluke. One mistake he made in his entire career and it cost him. That loss is not different then Wlad losing to Brewster and a lesser skilled Sanders by Ko.

Since then, he has had good, solid wins against good heavyweight contenders. Also he schooled Wlad Klitschko in the amateurs.....just in case you didn't know. Not that it matters in the pro's but he deserves another crack at the top.

Gomez might have a chance against Wlad because he's fast and can punch hard, but no way will he defeat Vitali.

gomez is cuban isn't he? of course he's good in the amateurs.

fluke or not......yanqui diaz was not at all top level.

i think he deserves a shot. he was a great cruiser and has beaten some solid heavies. he definitely deserves a shot better than haye. (juan carlos was a better cruiser and obviously has beat better heavies)

that said , i give him a small chance against wlad but NO CHANCE against vitali.

no hate on the guy...just my opinion on how a fight against those 2 ukrainians would go.

Of couse he has a chance. Lets keep in mind that Vitali can at anytime get inured in the fight as he did during training several times.....last injury having been a back injury that he had to have surgery for.

On top of that, Gomez has the best skills and size put together, that Vitali has ever fought besides Lewis. A multi-dimensional fighter.....not Danny Williams, a out of shape Kirk Johnson or a sluggish looking Samuel Peter, which is what Vitali has fought in the last few years

Trust me people are too high on that Vitali win, Gomez will beat Vitali and I will make a lot of money in the process as long as Gomez is the underdog. He is one of the most skilled cuban fighters I have seen and he is coming to win, Did anyone see him dominate Vladimir Virchis? Virchis has never been beaten like that before and Virchis has fought Chagaev and some other good fighters.

Juan Carlos got skillz I'll admit and he is underated but I haven't seen anything that tells me he'd be able to beat Vitali. I'd like to see Juan Carlos vs James Toney. It would be a good fight...two fighters with skills.

So what, I just finished watching the fight, Virchis was waiting on Gomez, Vitali will be pot shotting him and Gomez wont get into the Ukranian giants reach. People are reading to much into Gomez, He might beat anybody besides the Klitschko's. Gomez is a bum to Vitali, keep betting on Gomez, he will stay the underdog and u will loose money. Vitali will knock him out, i promise you.

Virchis was sick for that fight. He lost 15-20 pounds of muscle in the weeks leading up to it. After I saw him at the presser, I made a 50 K bet with Boxing2005 here on Gomez, becausae I knew he would lose.

I healthy Virchis vs. Gomez would be a pick 'em fight. Virchis at his best is slow and has mediocre skills but normally is an awesome puncher with a great chin. *****ko schooled him for 11 rounds, only to be KOed in the 12th.

                      Vitali is not Virchis.
