How did Calzaghe have a better year than Margarito?

I can't believe that Margarito isn't a lock to win fighter of the year(if Pacquiao loses to Oscar).
Calzaghe fought Hopkins and struggled to win a decision. Then he fought a completely washed up Roy Jones Jr. He couldn't KO either of them.
Margarito won two welterweight titles after knocking out two of the best guys in his division, Cintron and Cotto, the latter who was a P4P top ten.
Margarito was in what may be the fight of the year. Both Calzaghe's fights were lackluster.
The only reason Calzaghe may win FOTY 2008 is because of Jones and Hopkins name recognition. If he had wins over both of these men five years ago he would be a shoe-in. But neither Jones or Hopkins are in their prime and though Hopkins is still good Calzaghe narrowly edged him in a horrible fight.

Calzaghe MOVED UP in weight, won the Ring title in their own backyards.

JC won't win fighter of the year. Not saying because he is undeserving arguably but because there is a more deserving person in the running.

To me Margarito is Fighter of the year so far, but I can understand if JC takes it. If Manny beats Oscar(which I doubt), then Pac takes it.

Margarito fight of the year? For what beating Cotto and Cintron? I think Cintron sucks period, and Cotto is the only thing big he seriously did this year. Cinton sucks so much that Nduo who is coming up in weight might actually pull an upset.

Dont you know beating 2 puerto rican champions is far better than beating 2 legends. Only a handful of fighters have beaten 2 or more puerto rican champions, most of them are legendary. Chavez, Duran, Holyfield, etc. Calzones has beaten none.
