    is this a joke

Cotto will destroy Jennings inside 4 rounds it will be another Gomez type performance Jennings is not a big puncher he is an upright Boxer that uses the jab and moves around the ring,Cotto will destroy his body mark my words

A bit more info on Jennings. He has a swarming style very similar to Hatton and very much relies on getting inside of his opponent, something he shouldn't have a problem with Cotto. He has a couple of nice one punch KOs but being honest I can see this being another Gary Lockett situation. Jennings has beaten absoluetely no one to deserve a shot at a title.
i dont understand this post at all

Jennings is not a a swarming type fighter who relies on getting inside of his opponent he is a Boxer that uses the jab consistently and uses lateral movement but he can mix it up aswell but he is not a great inside fighter by any means he is tougher than he looks though as he showed against Minter

This isn't the way I wanted to see Cotto aquire another belt. This also ends any chance of a Williams-Margarito rematch too I think.

Jennings is a good domestic fighter and comes across as a good lad. Tjis would be a total miss-match though, another Pavlik - Lockett situation.

Pretty much the perfect fight for cotto after the savagery of the magarito fight. Jennings is not a puncher, he's a boxer of the jabbing variety. I think a lot of people want to see cotto jump back in against very strong opposition but i dont see why, he deserves an easily winnable fight after margs. Jennings will be soundly outboxed and stopped in maybe four or five.

For jennings its still a great thing to get in with the best, but he's not fought at anything like world class, it sort of feels like he's being fed to the lions a bit by warren. Presumably the plan is to put in a decent performance and then appear established as a world class boxer and secure big money fights with the contenders of the division (the cintrons, forbes' etc)

Jennings is a good domestic level fighter.

He's pretty tidy, I hope he sees round 6 or so. That would be a nice effort.

My only problem with this fight is why didn't Cotto try to fight Pwill for the belt? Pwill would have been ****d on this board if he fought Jennings instead of Verno. As should Cotto for fighting this guy instead of Cintron. But I would have picked Cintron to KTFO Cotto, so this is a smart business move. This is all about hype for the Margs rematch.

                Pwill was the best WW!

                Margs will beat Cotto again!

I congratulate Michael Jennings on working his way up to fight for a World Title! Lets see if he can turn into Rocky Balboa or JJ Braddock.

                  This is a disturbing Pattern.

Cotto fights all Medium RISK - Medium Reward fighters
EXCEPT ONE TIME, AND HE GOT HIS ASS BEAT..!

Their is a big difference between beating a CURRENT CHAMPION for his belt.
and beating a fellow contender for a belt.

Thats why we have words like CHAMPION and CONTENDER....

and Cotto always fights contenders for his belts...

He has never had to beat a CHAMPION for his belt.Cotto has
never had to take away something from somebody who earned it.

I have been saying this for years...

The General Concerns I have with Cotto....

Cotto has been on cloud 9 before he was even a champion,
So much hype and money have went in to this kid, and I mean kid, that he has to fight the best in the division now.

No More Unproven Contenders Like Gomez,
No More Past their Prime Old Fighters Mosely in which He barely Wins..
No More fighting non active fighters like Judah
He now has to fight Prime,Active, Young , P4P, Highly ranked Fighters....
There is no more grace time.....The Time is Now....
And His First Test is Margarito....
Remember Cotto has never had to beat a Champion For his Title...He has always fought fellow contenders for vacant titles....
(AND HE IS DOING IT AGAIN)
I have been seeing this coming though, but the commentators on HBO are just commenting on the good things they see. Instead of the little things he does wrong that champions will see and will counter, and will not miss. He still gets hit a lot, and wastes a lot of punches. Sometimes he punches from too far out and leaves gaps where he can be countered or beaten to the punch.

                  • Zab Judah Show you how to counter him....
                  • Shane Mosley show you how to pressure him
                  • Demarcus Corely Show you how to accurately hit him...

and Margarito showed how can he handle being hurt by somebody who can finish the job. HE TOOK A KNEE, AND QUIT
                  ..
Steward,Merchant and Lampley make him out to be some phenom, because he's KO'd a bunch of lightweights, contenders, and Past their prime fighters
when they know he's starving to make the weight.

Cotto Flaws....Of Getting HIT alot , and wasting a lot of punches, Is a flaw you can not afford to have against The Elite Fighters....., THATS WHY COTTO AVOIDS FIGHTING PRIME FIGHTERS(CHAMPIONS) FOR THEIR BELTS... AND FIGHT BULL**** FIGHTERS.. FOR VACANT TITLES.
I understand your post, but give me a break. You obviously don't like Cotto. Out of most people on this board, no one feeds into every little detail about Cotto but you, then puts extra emphasis on it just to make him look bad. And you copy and pasted a lot of **** from an older post, really unneeded.

This is a fight to see where Cotto is at right now, after that Margarito fight. He cant just bounce back and fight somebody huge again. He needs to fight somebody to see where he is in his mind. He is still very young, and i still feel he will dominate the sport in the within the next 2 years. But after this fight, if he is in the right state of mind, he will avenge his loss to Margorito. I can see it now. A huge rivalry between the two.
