You get your arse handed to you and I mean handed to you on a plate for 12 rounds you are up against a hostile crowd and everyone including the old lady in her rocking chair watching on TV wants to see you bleed badly. You make it out alive but your boxing career is in the ****ter. You confidence level is way down and so is your stock. Then apparently you get demoted from head liner to undercard of a Winky Wright fight in St Pete and look horrible in a majority decision which some thought you may have lost. you go another 12 months without fighting and fight contender Peter Manfredo Jr and edge out a split decision which you looked horrible in doing. Last but not least another 8 months go by and you edge out Epifanio Mendoza by majority decision.
Skip forward to November 13th 2008 you are two days away from the fight of your life with a big name again and you are the co headliner of this highly awaited event. You have the chance to erase all your ghosts and the vision of Joe Calzaghe. it is like every time they talk to Joe all you hear is how badly he kicked your arse and exposed you for the hype job you were. It is like pins being stuck throw your temples over and over like Chinese torture. You just want to stop hearing your name associated with the drubbing you took to the hands of the Italian Dragon Joe Calzaghe. the noise of the hostel crowd and the mention of your name in the same sentence. So what is standing in between you and clearing the air? What is standing between you and another shot a new career?
Oh just former undisputed middle weight champion of the world Jermain Taylor. Your former teammate on the 2000 US Olympics team. Olympic ,medalist and the baddest man from Arkansas next to Slick Willie. Oh just him yeah right just him. Guess what he is fighting for his career as well. Coming off back to back losses to Kelly Pavlik and moving up in weight to 168. Oh no big deal right? Wrong all wrong Jeff while Jermain is relaxed and seems at peace with himself and ready to throw down in about 48 hours you sir are uptight and tense as ever. you look like someone kicked your dog when reporters approach you and ask questions. You look nervous and rightfully so. It is not every day that you get a second chance to fight for the big time fight in front of the big crowd and on the big stage.
Instead of taking the fight and being gracious that you were given the opportunity and showing them that you weren't just some hype job what did you do? Come on Jeff tell us....oh right you complained about the purse you were getting. Right $250,000.00 wasn't enough I am sure you got more for you last fight with oh wait I can't even remember his name. Exactly Jeff you should be kissing Jermaine’s ass for fighting you. Instead what did you say Jermain needs you right? Jermain needs you he should be thanking you Jeff right?
Fact f the matter is this fight means more to you than anyone else sir. You should kissing his and then kicking his ass all over the ring sir on Saturday night. Showing the public that the Left Hook is not a fluke. I visited your ******* page Jeff and you know what surprised me Jeff I saw the back round and it was of a Lexus. Nice car something the average working man like myself would not mind driving around but Jermain is probably driving a Bentley Jeff or a Benz maybe even a Lamborghini and you got a Lexus poster up as you wall paper in your ******* back round. then you go and say Jermain needs you.
A KO win to you Jeff mean more then the Bentley or the Benz it means getting your dignity back Jeff. Being talked about as a serious contender and not just some second rate club fighter with a little name recognition because he got his whooped by the Great Joe Calzaghe. this means you get to redeem yourself in front of millions sir. So To answer my own question Jeff this means the world to you. Cause if you are serious about getting your career back then boxing has to be your entire world Jeff. So by knocking out Jermain Taylor November 15th in front of millions of fans you will be regaining your universe as you know it sir.
The sad thing is just about every fan on this site and that I have talked to that knows anything about boxing thinks that will never happen. the question you have to ask yourself Jeff is what do you think?.....Lefty
