actually, Paz had been fighting around that weight for a while. he actually beat an overweight, 40 something Roberto Duran for the title shot I think. Paz has an interesting story, he was in a car crash or something and was supposed to never be able to box again, but ended up pulling some big upsets at 154lbs and up and having a pretty damn good career.

Can you imagine the massacre Duran-Jones would have been had he beaten Paz?

Paz broke his neck in a car accident and wasn't supposed to be able to fight again but made remarkably made a comeback a little over a year later.

well, he did his best and tried to entertain, and lasted a decently long time considering he was fighting Roy Jones and was a former Lightweight.

I feel like Paz is a little underrated. from my judging he actually lost both of his first two fights with Haugen, but he ended up beating Dana Rosenblatt and Honeygam I think, who were pretty good fighters and 160lbs+. Im pretty sure he became a champ at 154lbs or 160lbs too.
pretty inspiring, especially considering that whole car crash business.
