You two guys talk real nonsense. I'm glad that you are the only ones. Hopkins held, fell to the canvas from faked low blows and spent each 5 minutes grimacing like King Kong,[as if he was hurt], in such a way, that we can be certain that the Academy Award is safe.

It was a major mark of the second half of the fight just how much Hopkins was dominated. What you guys do't seem to admit, or, maybe even know, is that Calzaghe has a very rare attribute in that, if and when NEEDED, he can turn up the heat, and getting into his special rhythm, runs away with the fight.

He didn't exactly "run" away with the second half of the Hopkins fight because of Hopkins' spoiling tactics, but he won every or almost every round. He "
walked" away with it. I scored it 117-111.

In the "open" moments, [minimum of all in wrestling] his class showed all the way.

Maybe he has a special way of doing it which puts him in a "one of" class. He should contact the Guinness Book.....

I had the same score. Someone was wearing Hopkins down enough to have him flopping on waist slaps.

Those who want "blood" almost certainly get it in a Hopkins fight. I recall one analyst, some years ago, who said, "I wonder does Hopkins have something sharp attached to his head....or else his head comes to a very sharp point".......

I was very amused at this, since I didn't know much about Hopkins -or his head- then. Nut since I now know him better, it's no longer amusing.........

I believe Joe is a Good fighter... it's hard for me to consider him a great fighter.
He is however the best super middleweight champ of all time and 21 defenses is not an easy feat so i guess that would make him an ATG, but stacked against the ATG's of the past I don't see a comparison. As far as the best boxer of the decade.. no chance... that's between RJJ, Manny, and PBF

RJ doesn't really rate for this decade. The 90s he had his case, but I always felt the Ring groups rating of Whitaker over Jones made more sense than the BWWA's selection of Jones. Either way, that was the 90s race.

Calzaghe has fighter of this decade? Probably not, but it depends on what, if anything, he does in the last two years of this decade. A win over Dawson would further him. Right now, I'd rate it Manny, Floyd, Hopkins, and Cal though if Kessler can take and win some big fights that win could get much bigger.

Now, the point I make and the one that seals it for Joe in my mind is what he got done at 68. Fact is, he'll be in arguments about best ever there as long as the class exists. That matters, because it will exist for years to come. He doesn't have to be greater than any of the handful of fighters in front of him in his time to still be great. It's not mutually exclusive.
