    chad dawson vs joe calzaghe is an even match up.

    and anyone who disagrees is a fool.both have attributes that could give them the upperhand at any moment in the fight.chad dawson is 6-3, fast as hell,
    has decent pop, is an amazing combo puncher(the best IMHO),and has a subpar beard.joe calzaghe is 6 feet tall,fast as hell,an amazing combo puncher(one of the top 4 best with cotto,marquez, and dawson)and a great beard.chad has height on his side, and joe has a great beard on his side.
    so as i said in the thread title, its an even match up.this fight could be either the cementing of a legend( a big shut the **** up to the detractors) or,
    the passing of the torch for a new generation.it would be a great way for cal to leave with a **** in wales.

    IMHO

    It would be a great fight. I'm not sure if Dawson is experienced enough yet but if he is, or in a couple of more fights, I would definitely like to see this.

      Calzaghe = Workrate, Plan A,B,C,D + Handspeed + Chin
      Dawson = Handspeed

        you don't need to or three fights to see if he has experience.i think you can see the difference between his fight with johnson and tarver.it was there.he went from being tired as hell vs johnson, to fighting a full 12 vs tarver.

          no it's not an even match up, dawson doesn't have the experience to handle a guy like joe, a guy who has many facets to his game. dawson couldn't handle glenn johnson, he had a gift ud decision which should've been johnson's ud.

          tarver showed that when he used his experience it was effective on dawson.
          johnson's pressure was too much for dawson.....

          the speed, handspeed, experience, and pressure is too much for dawson right now, quit trying to find the next up and coming guy, even though he's champ, but quit trying to find the next guy to beat calzaghe by pushing the a guy into the ring that isnt ready yet.......

          on paper it might look good, but when you size up all the variables, calzaghe takes this fight in a landslide, sorry to say, but it's true...... dawson needs more world class experience before fighting clazaghe......

          this is the thing, i criticize calzaghe a lot, but i respect him and one of the things i do repsect is that, being a champ and being on top, he had to fight guys that really shouldn't have been in the ring with him but he rose to the occasion and won. same thing with hopkins, i don't criticize fighters for fighting mandatories, i criticize the sanctioning parties for their ****ty ranking system, dawson needs more world class fights ebfore figthing calzaghe.

          i would pick calzaghe to beat dawson in a ud if they fought....

          he isnt ready yet........

            Dawson actually has a good workrate himself. Certainly not as good as Joe. However, I think his physical strength, handspeed, and good workrate gives him a good shot at beating Joe.

              Dawson is a good fighter with hand speed. Trouble is Joes footwork would get Chad missing alot he also cannot hang with Joe inside, doesnt know who to clinch (Vital v Calzaghe) has suspect stamina, workrate and chin.

              I do not see this as a 50-50 fight. Intresting yes.

                you could argue joe didn't deserve the win vs hopkins so bringing up the johnson fight is silly.and just cause some might not think this isn't an even fight doesn't mean it shouldn't be fought.you're starting to sound like mayweather fans.

                each has one advantage, chad height, joe his beard.that's all.
