Max Kellerman(a modern boxing historian) said that Eric Lucas was underated win. I remember he said that. This is another case of Roy beating a solid guy, but him being called a bum because hes not a big name.

Yeah, Roy was impressive against Lucas. I still think the absolute prime version of Roy was against Toney. Everything came together that night. I have seen that fight over 10 times and every time I watch it I am still surprised at how good Roy was.

I think Roy looked the best against Woods.

Good Point. I was trying to find footage of Roy highlights over a long period in a fight to show his overall speed and skills. The Montell fight was over so quick.

He had great skill at his peak but was never tested that much. Funny how as soon as he gets tests in recent years he past his best.
Still a great fighter though. Just lacks a killer touch more, more a style machine.
hes 40 years old, hasnt beaten an elite fighter in 5 years and been KTFO twice....

So what the hell are you talking about

Jones beating Lucas in 1996? Insignificant.

Kessler beating him ten years later? What a win!

but he was able to put together lightning fast combos to back his opponant off him..he would have been to hit calzone with something hard between his wide slaps..

also the fight would be in the middle of the ring most of the fight as roys work rate was much higher

i know..i love me some roy jones..but in retrospect prime for prime it wouldve been a good fight..roy always had a habit of backing up to the ropes..and joe wouldve pressed the fight
