Roy just didn't have the stamina, speed and reflexes that he use to. But he kept fighting, even though he was bloodied, battered and Calzaghe was taunting him. Roy is definitley a fighter, and hes a proud man. Roy was trying to do his thing out there, but Joe is just the better fighter at this stage.

Too bad Roy didn't retire after Tito. I think Roy, me and alot of his fans got too ambitious about his comeback.

Whats done is done. Atleast Roy didn't quit and went out fighting one of the best of this generation.

    ....Excellent post.

I should have known this would have been a problem after the Hanshaw fight. Roy was very tired against Hanshaw, but he pulled it out. Calzaghe is big step up from Hanshaw.
Thank you. Finally a Roy fan is able to be honest about the Hanshaw fight. Better late than never, I guess.

Roys reflexes and legs are gone, but he still has his heart and that showed when he was fighting with blood streaming down his face for 4 rounds...

rjj showed he was all fighter against calzgahe..never not once thought of giving up.

rjj would have handled calzaghe 10 years ago

yeah that cut was serious too. When Roy says he doesn't care, he fights till the end, hes not lying.

i know roy had a great round 1 (putting calzgahe on his ass) but i felt sad watching him throw his counter left hooks and also when he traded, he lost SO much speed

Quite probably the silliest statement floating around these boards is that "Jones handles Calzaghe" no body handles Calzaghe and he is a tough fight for anyone.

looking back at it, the tauting early was no big deal. I just thought late, Calzaghe should have let up on the taunting.
