yup, i think if he looked his age alot of people would not call for him to keep at it, but he looks damn fresh still.

That's why all the "Joe is old too, compared to RJJ and Hopkins" argument is not valid. His career did not come with the wear and tear involved when fighting elite fighters throughout someone's career. That's why he's still fresh compared to RJJ or Hopkins.

It's really hard for me to say that after saturday but I dont think anybody in SMW/LHW beats him right now (unless Hopkins gets a rematch) and he should stay fighting for another 2 years+

i agree with that. i mean bhop, and dawson have legit shots 4 sure, but if joe could win, and fight a couple more fights your talking about 50-0, i mean wtf thats unreal no matter what anyone says.

because he didnt take a lot of damage in his career, other than a few fights. a lot of them have been cakewalks for him. plus he seems like takes care of himself, and the moving up in weight probebly did him well, heard he always had to cut a lot to get to 168.

Ive always said that his prime was around the Kessler-Lacy fights, but I can see he is going downhill a bit. you might not have been able to tell from the Jones fight because he was so dominant after the first few rounds, but his defence is getting leakier and his balance is little more off than usual.

but hes still good for 2 or so more years, if hes up to it.

Thank you. It's laughable when people try to say "but there's only a 3 year age difference between him and Jones!" Neither Calzaghe or Jones is in their prime but Calzaghe is A LOT closer.

Calzaghe shouldnt be derrided for taking more care of his body and preparing for fights better. He undoubtedly took more punishment over his career than Jones has, in spite of his two knock outs. He puts himself out there to take punches a hell of a lot more than Hopkins has. He just never got complacent and allowed himself to be beaten. Those two stuck out there too long and are no damaging their legacy by being beaten, like it or not but Hopkins has just managed to stem the tide by beating Pavlik, but if he loses his next couple before retiring its a different matter. Getting to the top is the hardest thing in boxing for most fighters, staying at the top is even harder, leaving when you've been at the top for a while is virtually unheard of. Calzaghe shouldnt be ashamed to do so and nobody should be critical of him for doing it.
