Dawson isn't a huge puncher by any means, he doesn't have the sneaky skill that Hopkins and RJJ used to put Joe on the deck in the first and it was obvious that once the first round was over Joe was taking Hopkins, Jones even Kesslers shots quite easily.

At this point in time Calzaghe just had too much experience for Dawson.

Dawson is ALOT faster than Calzaghe, that will cause alot of problemS for Cazaghe imo, Dawson has speed, reach and power advantage over Calzaghe..

imo he has a great shot to be Joe...

he easily has the reach advantage over Joe, Dawon his 6 foot 3, he has the speed advantage too... right now I think he has the power edge too

Dawson is the FASTEST light heavy out there, imo he has a shot to beat Joe

Joe would do a Lacy on Dawson.

He doesnt have Calzaghe stamina, workrate and footwork. Calzaghe also feints a whole lot better and his inside game is superb. As for speed thats pretty even, Dawson looks like he hits hard but at elite he hasnt even wobbled anyone.

I think the poll is pretty accurate given recent events. Dawson has improved since Johnson I'll admit, but you'd expect that he's at the start of his prime and learning. He performed better against Tarver, but a top LHW should have dominated the version of Clinton Woods that showed up.

Calzaghe has already beaten Tarver in much more dominating fashion and was the #1 guy, Joe beat him, he's #1. After Saturday's performance from Calzaghe he looked like the real deal and proved it once again, and most agree.

The speed, combinations, recovery, adaptability is something guys with very good boxing brains can challenge a bit more, but not Dawson. He's very good and would take a few rounds, but he simply doesn't have the required tenacity, adaptability, and slickness to beat Calzaghe. That's what it comes down to.

Dawson is seen as a toss up as to beating Kessler or Hopkins, can that be said of Calzaghe? I know triangle theories don't work but between them, Dawson should be well favoured, let alone just beating, guys like that.

Hopkins schools Dawson, Johnson was too tricky for him but Bernard would have have the inexperienced Chad dazed and confused.

Nicely put, succinct. I agree. My main criticism of Dawson is quite often he looks dazed and confused. He certainly doesn't have stacks of determination, getting stuck in, trying different things and looking very confident with what he's doing. He looked like he was just keeping the fight going with Johnson and didn't have the will power to really get stuck in and win. Sure signs folk like Calzaghe and Hopkins would just pick on and make worse, with their superior skills and tactics.
