Calzaghe's taunting and showboating

Calzaghe isn't a mean spirited guy at all. He's not even a show-off. He's a naturally reticent family man from Wales who happens to be good at boxing.

Too many people crying because he whacked their hero and gave him a taste of his own medicine. Perhaps they should choose their heroes more carefully.

This is irrelevant. If he acts like a twat and shows his opponents disrespect in the ring then he deserves it.

I could understand your complaints if Joe showboated against Kelly Pavlik or Mikkel Kessler, two guys who show their opponents nothing but respect in the ring but Jones deserves everything he gets in there. As for age, there's not much difference. You give it out, expect to take it, period.

Yeah, I can see it that way too...but to a point. I think it has more to do what happened afterwards where Joe continued to have an erection over beating a "Legend" even though Roy was clearly a Shot fighter. He couldn't even knock out this "Shot" fighter despite Roy having been KTFO by Johnson and Tarver. He actually thinks it's a great win. Hopkins win, yeah, kind of a decent win. But Roy, lol

I'm just not sure how happy you can be after such a fight and I think he was trying to justify fighting Roy.

After the Johnson fight he said there was no point in fighting Roy because he is finished. But Roy went on and had some wins so Joe fought Roy when Roy offered it.

I wasn't for the fight but if Roy wanted it, I wasn't too against it. I think Old Fighters need to be "taken out" to show them it's the end of the road if you haven't gotten the point by now.

I would just have liked to see Joe Calzaghe act like Joe Louis, but not everybody can be up to this level of respect as Louis was in the ring.

Some showboating is great and adds excitement to fights but in this case Joe took it way too far mocking Roy. I wonder if anyone ever told him that Jones was way past his best and by mocking him, it makes Joe looke like a total prick?

I knew Joe was an a55hole before the fight and nothing has changed, but it does not change the notion that he was doing this to a living legend who is old and would have whipped his a55 prime for prime.

The difference is that you can showboat with an old, depleted Jones but when somebody did it in Jones' prime, we all know what happened.*

I'm not into showboating, but it will be good if JC showboat a prime Jones(I know this will not happen)... The way I see it, it looks like JC showboating a senior citizen who can't even throw a punch...
