Obviously Joe isn't the best welsh fighter, the best welsh fighter is also one of the greatest boxers in boxing history in the form of Jimmy Wilde

    ...

I'm a massive Calzaghe fan but let's be honest he's not an ATG, neither is Hopkins or Jones....all three of these are HOF'ers and nothing more

calzgahe is a great fighter but lets all be real here

he got a questionable win over hopkins, many fans had him losing by a point or two. he was put on his ass in that fight too.

roy jones prior to losing to joe calzgahe was destroyed by glen johnson and antonio tarver not just beaten but dominated and knocked out by those two. roy is not the same fighter anymore. his prime was in the 90s.

i think any top young fighter would have beaten up todays roy jones in similar fashion.

calzaghe is a hofer but i really cant say he is an all time great.

Hopkins and Jones are in a class above Calzaghe.People were putting Jones as a top 20 ATG after his fight with Ruiz.
        I'm being honest here.

ok maybe RJJ in his prime was an ATG.....but he carried on boxing and has had so many losses against the likes of Tarver which means he shouldn't be classed as an ATG no way in hell.

          and Hopkins?....

OK.So by your criterion, Muhammad Ali's status as a fighter should be diminished because he lost to the likes of Leon Spinks and Tervor Berbick, late in his career or Sugar Ray Leonard when he lost to Terry Norris and Hector 'Macho' Camacho or the likes of Sugar Ray Robinson when he lost to the likes of Paul Pender,Mick Leahy,Memo Ayon,Stan Harrington,Ferd Hernandez,Joey Archer etc etc...
These losses aren't irrelevant when assessing their status as ATGs?

Surely you must judge a fighter career on the standard he achieved when he was at the peak of his form. Also, worthwhile while making that assessment, is the duration of his peak.

BTW I like Bernard's professionalism and pure technical ability. He would have done well in a previous age, when fighters fought well over a hundred professional fights in their careers
