Jones had his moments for sure (definitely should've been given the nod for the second round) but he wasn't doing enough to win rounds [Joe]at the end of the day[/Calzaghe] - (that uppercut was a thing of beauty though, anyone got a .gif?)

i do think the cut stopped him from really going for it in the last couple rounds which maybe would have been the plan otherwise... a last hurrah to finish like a champ and throw caution to the wind (to an extent) in a bid to get a late KO/TKO

Now, I'm not sayin Joe didn't win the fight. But it wasn't entirely a blow-out or one sided. This fight was alot closer than the scorecards indicated and as always, the busier guy got alot more credit than he deserved.

Before the cut, I thought Jones landed more effective punches in the 2,5,7 rounds. They were at least close enough to be competitive and the punches Joe was landing-through the whole fight-were mostly glancing, catching more glove and arm than anything.

The cut-which Roy has never experienced before clearly won the fight for Calzaghe. Along with body punches which he seemed to actually commit to.

The last few rounds? I don't remember any real significant punches by either guy. Just Joe slappin and the occasional counter by Jones. Was Joe winning the rounds? Yes but not the way it was described around here. I thought we were back to 1980 Larry Holmes beating up a old Ali. Couldn't have been further from the truth.

It's unlikey with worser stamina he'd look to late TKO or KO a guy with immensely good stamina whom can fight the same in R12 as he did in R1. Plus Joe has a very tough chin to be majorly troubled.

but you don't think he'd give it a go? i mean realistically i'm sure he knew this was potentially his last big night, and wanted to at least go out with a ****.......determination and heart can be extraordinary factors in boxing, and i think the cut just sapped this out of him a bit and disheartened him

True, and Joe was successful in doing that in his boxing, more and more even before the cut. I don't think Roy was really chasing a KO as he knows Joes quick and has a tough chin. Plus like Joe he just doesn't KO much anymore. They win cleanly with skill.

He won and in dominating fashion as even the press releases all over the internet rightly say. Get over it.
I am over it, doesn't mean I can't comment on what I saw.

I saw a close fight until a cut, then nothing. Just some slighty less over the hill guy gloating and getting rounds by sticking his arms out there. Getting away with **** the real Roy Jones would have destroyed him for in around 2002, when this fight could have meant something.

I don't remember with the exception of some body punches, any significant power shots by Joe the whole fight. The announcers were influenced by output, they influenced the people watching and the judges bought it all.

What is frightening (for Team Calzaghe) is the notion of JC fighting an anywhere-near-prime Jones.

The stats that HBO showed before the fight were telling. In his recent fights, RJJ has been landing at a lower rate than he had been, and his opponents have been landing at a higher rate.

Is there any doubt in YOUR mind what would happen in RJJ vs JC prime-for-prime?

                    You ******.
Styles make fights and Jones is lucky he never fought a prime Calzaghe.
                    It would've ruined his legacy.
