Finally watched the full RJJ - Calzaghe fight

Ok guys. I'm sure I'm gonna get lit up for this but I just saw the full fight for the first time and once again, I think people-influenced by the announcers-exaggerated the beating Jones was taking.

Now, I'm not sayin Joe didn't win the fight. But it wasn't entirely a blow-out or one sided. This fight was alot closer than the scorecards indicated and as always, the busier guy got alot more credit than he deserved.

Before the cut, I thought Jones landed more effective punches in the 2,5,7 rounds. They were at least close enough to be competitive and the punches Joe was landing-through the whole fight-were mostly glancing, catching more glove and arm than anything.

The cut-which Roy has never experienced before clearly won the fight for Calzaghe. Along with body punches which he seemed to actually commit to.

The last few rounds? I don't remember any real significant punches by either guy. Just Joe slappin and the occasional counter by Jones. Was Joe winning the rounds? Yes but not the way it was described around here. I thought we were back to 1980 Larry Holmes beating up a old Ali. Couldn't have been further from the truth.

Good post. Jones was sticking in there until he got the cut and hurt Calzaghe a few times. It was a very entertaining fight.

Most people had it clearly 10 rounds to 2. That is pretty one sided and comfortable. Your a little deluded, and one notices your mock up of Calzaghes boxrec with a loss to Roy Jones, has gone. He won and in dominating fashion as even the press releases all over the internet rightly say. Get over it.

For the record I gave 1, 2 and 5 to Jones, and a share of 3. But thats because I like counterpunching more than volume.

so My scorecard was Calzaghe 116-112 Jones.

but thats still all the rounds in the second half of the fight to Calzaghe thats a beating in anyones book.

I thought Joe won 10 rounds to 2 but It wasn't as dominant as it sounds. I only saw the first half of the fight last night but after watching the rest Joe did not completely dominate that fight. He did win convincingly and the judges scores were correct in my opinion but it wasn't as if Joe abused Roy the whole time. He just had such a high punch output vs. Roy's low output.

I scored the first for Jones and gave it to him 10-8. I also thought Roy won the second. THere was another round, either the 4th or 5th which I thought could have gone either way. Other than that I thought Joe won all the other rounds. SO yeah, I would have had it scored at 117-110 or 116-111. Probably the first of those.

I scored the first for ROY, of course, 10-8.

Second was questionable, could have gone to either one.

the other 10 were ALL Calzaghe
