WTF!?!?.........Joe has nothing left to prove?
.......I think Joe is an GREAT fighter and one of the best ever(skills wise). But for peeps to say there's NOTHING left to prove and NOONE left to beat is sick. I'm no Calz hater or some yank that plays down european fighters abilities or accomplishments, but Joe STILL has some convincing to do.
Joe defeats Kessler by UD...........the fight took place in front of 50,000 bias fans in Wales. Kessler did well but you can see he had a problem dealin' with the bright lights and big stage......the event itself was too much for the young Dane. Those 50,000 inspired Joe to greatness that night, but what if it was 50,000 Kessler heads in the building? makes you wonder right?
Joe defeats Hopkins by SD..........Yes they fought in America, but by no means was Hopkins the HOMETOWN fighter as many mention. Joe was dropped by the first punch of 43 yr. old who fought most of his career a weight class UNDER Joe. Yes he got up controlled the pace but there are still too many people who felt Hopkins deserved the decision. What if Hopkins hadn't made that infamous "white boy" comment? Maybe one of the white judges would've leaned his way in those too close to call rounds(there were many that night) Joe looked bad against a fighter who wasn't at his best but he satisfied with the SD.....as they say, a win is a win right?
Joe defeats Jones by UD..........Anybody with 3 eyes(2 visuals and a brain) know Roy Jones Jr's best days are long gone. No ATG was never KO'ed twice in back to back fights until it happened to Roy.......Again Joe was dropped in the first round by a fighter who's best days were in the past.......Roy was there for the takin' and Joe couldn't take him......instead of sittin down on his shots and makin' good on his KO prediction......he showboated in an almost disrespectful manner and waited for the judges approval.......Roy was STILL capable but not as capable as he once was right?
Now there's "Bad" Chad DawsonStyle wise, better than anyone Joe has ever faced....he presents more problems for Joe than Kessler, Hopkins and Roy combined........I'll break it down if you want, but I'll save it for a later issue.......Joe beat Roy but Chad has beaten BOTH of the guys who KO'd Roy......Joe is being recognized as the LHW champ with wins over B-hop and Jones but Chad has victories over some of the BEST LHW's in the division such as Tarver, Johnson and Harding......Who's the REAL LHW champ? Can Joe deal with a YOUNG fast slick fighter? when has he EVER faced a young, fast slick southpaw like a Chad Dawson? NEVER!!! he proved he can outwork aging legends like Eubank, Hopkins and Jones....he proved his house can freeze opponents up like Lacy, Manfredo Jr., and Kessler........but he's NEVER proved he can beat a fighter as talented as Chad.......there are MANY boxing insiders who have UNOFICIALLY crowned Chad p4p king
..........I think theres something left to prove. Prove you can beat a slick southpaw Joe.

People just want him to lose. So it's "Fight Dawson ya *****!" then as soon as he beats Dawson it will be "He hasnt proven anything beating a hype job in Dawson. Glen Johnson already handed Dawson his ass! Fight Glen Johnson ya *****!" and on and on. Call it a day Joe and go out on top. Thanks for the memories.Last edited by Motofan; 11-10-2008, 05:40 AM.

Joe is having a hard time getting up for fights. If his hunger is indeed gone and he doesn't need the money then he should retire. He's almost 37 and he's proven enough.

Maybe the reason Lennox said that is so he can maintain his legacy as best British boxer?
And Haye doesn't want to compete with Calzaghe for fans.
Yes.........I'm very cynical
