agreed.whilst a lot of people say joe should have a rematch with bhop(a point i dont agree with),it can also be said that mayweather should fight margarito,a guy he blatantly ducked,or paul williams if he wants to be considered an ATG.

I use it in this case because four different sources confirm this is what happened (Calzaghe, Frank Warren, B-Hop's Lawyer and the then Showtime CEO). As for Roy Jones, the man admitted only weeks ago that he wasn't interested in fighting Calzaghe back in the day. Exposure-wise Calzaghe simply wasn't big enough to make the fight worth the risk, even though Jones was apparantly offered $12m.

Considering most Champions can get in on one weight division, we can easily just mark check for Floyd based on his start weight.

current p4p yeah, a great achievement in staying undefeated and undoubtedly very talented but he has not fought and overcome enough competitive top class opposition to be considered an atg.
Right on the button. If you put Joe Calzaghe's name on a list of all-time greats, it would look so out of place it wouldn't even be funny. He belongs on the European ATG list. That's it.

no. The best British Boxer ever is Lennox Lewis. He came to the US to test the waters and destroyed most of his competition to prove he is the best.
Joe never wanted to prove anything. He was satisfied in facing bums most of his career which is why I don't consider him an all time great. You got to want to prove yourself especially in the prime of your career. This is what Lewis was all about, he didn't care who you are, he faced whoever wanted to fight him in his prime and he destroyed most of them, even the ones he snoozed on, he got his revenge by Ko or Tko. He called out the best fighters in the heavy weight division and even though somel of them didn't want to fight him "Ridiculous Bowe" in Lennox own words and fought in the US to prove he was the best.
Lennox is an all time great. Not Joe.

That's kinda like pity sex though isn't it? Let 20 years go by and be like, "ahh we might as well let him have some stature now." The guy is a great fighter but I absolutely disagree with him being mentioned with the ATG's. Just isn't one IMO and don't hate me for it, just how I see it. Let me sum it up this way, Hop and Jones both lost to JC correct? That being said, they will ALWAYS go down as better fighters P4P and as ATG's. Take that however you want.

I've seen a lot more from the Calzaghe haters since the win over Jones. The usual suspects, racists like Burner and daggum who can't deal with the fact that a white guy from the UK can be a great boxer, have been making the expected threads and posts bashing and discrediting Joe.

But they can say what they want - they can't change the fact that Joe is an all time great!
Couldnt disgree more with you Tunney.

All Joe has proved to me is he can beat journeymen, hide from America when it mattered and disrespect shot legends.....oh and shamelessly gloat over dodgey decisions

Calzaghes record speaks for itself in my opinion, tell me the great fighters he beat at the top of their game?

He has waited for all of them to become damaged goods before taking fights with them.
