I'm not a Calzaghe hater. Anyone that's seen my posts about him knows that I've been very impressed since the Lacy fight. I just can't shake that Calzaghe didn't beat Hopkins or Jones until they were well past their primes. It's like seeing Kobe and the Lakers dismantle Michael Jordan and the Wizards. Impressive, um, I guess, but it just didn't feel the same because MJ was so far out of his prime. I'm not trying to disregard the biggest wins of Calzaghe's career, I just think that if he thought he could perform that well against Hopkins and Jones in their primes, he should have fought them years ago. I want my money back.
Did Joe Calzaghe damage Joe Calzaghe's legacy?

I don't even know why I paid for the fight. I'm gonna stop wasting money on disappointing PPV's. I think I'm passing on DLH vs. Pac as well. -
I wanted Jones to win, but given Jones' shotness, I expected Calzaghe to beat him even worse than he did. Not to take anything away from Joe, he's a great fighter. This win, and the one vs. Hopkins just doesn't do much for me. Had Pavlik beaten Hopkins, I'd say the same thing about him.Comment

So although Hopkins beat a PRIME UNDEFEATED DOUBLE WORLD CHAMPION with a record of 34-0 (30ko). After his fight with Calzaghe, Calzaghe doesn't get credit from the win?Comment

Please don't be a nuthugger, I already said I wasn't trying to downplay the significance of his wins over two sure shot hall of famers. Of course he gets credit,Comment

As in Warren was the one keeping him away from Jones and Hopkins years ago?
Hatton and Calzaghe both had to ditch hom to get big fights in the states and you will see that repeated over the next few years when all the good Uk amatures turn pro, hopefully at least a couple will sign with Maloney rather than Warren.Comment
