Calzaghe cut Jones for the first time in his career with a right hand. Also Jones looked in much better shape for this fight than the Johnson fight.
The Welshman made Roy Jones look like an english boxer ie. crap.

I didn't think he looked in better shape and jones still seemed to have his hand speed and could throw combos against Johnson which was clearly missing against Calzaghe. Joe may have cut him but Johnson knocked him clean out.

the RJJ that fought johnson imo was not in better condition, imo he was still recovering mentally from the KO loss to tarver and his body was still recovering from the heavyweight foray.

yes you can say that he put his punches better but thats because johson is an easier fighter to put your punches togther against, imo theRJJ that fought zaghe was in better condition.

personally i think a KO is a better way to finish the fight and showing your superiority over the other fighter rather than showboating and looking classy over the 12 ounds. im sure if you asked calzaghe what he would have preferredhe would have said the same thing.

yeah i have heard that but i completely disagree he was clearly in at least as good physical condition, as for his mental state he has never been the same since the first Tarver fight. it was very clear Roy still had his hand speed on single shots and combos that he didn't have against clazaghe

Truth be told Johnson only deserves like 4 or 5 of the losses on his record tops. Most were hometown robberies and gift decisions, same with Emmanuel.
The thing is Calzaghe will never struggle with somebody like Woods 3 times. I love Johnson and he did better against Roy, but styles makes fights and Johnson will have a hard time landing **** on Zaghe.

True but this isnt a thread about Joe vs Johnson i was just saying Johnson did better against Jones and back in 04 was a great fighter imo. Styles make fights but i cant see anyone dominating the 04 version of Johnson.

Not sure though i have seen a lot of Calzaghe fights on nuts and he did occasionally struggle against fighters no better than woods.

Glen beat a 35 year old Jones who had better speed back then and reflexes, Joe beat an almost 40 year old Jones who has no legs and no reflexes and 50% percent of his handspeed...

It is indeed a sad day when such discussions are raised.
