I'm not even sure if Roy could see outta the left side of his face

Roy proved tonight he's a ****ing warrior man. Dont talk **** about one of the all time greats in this sport who helped keep it alive.

NO, although he should have retired after Tarver 1...let alone Ruiz.

He went after Tarver for the second match because he thought it was the right thing to do. People questioned his win, OK, "I'll do it again."

Then he was KTFO, so he got up and tried it again...he needed to. He lost. He could have retired but to Jones, his ego will not allow him to go out with a loss; he wanted to repair his legacy.

So he fights Johnson and loses again by getting put to sleep.

To Jones: No way can he go out like this...so he starts to rebuild.

He rebuilds and once to give it one more go against an "elite." He tries and fails.

Now, it is time to retire.

I know these fighters are taught to fight until there is nothing left...but to me, once you start to slip, RETIRE on TOP.
I even thought Tyson should have retired after Spinks when he said "this might be my last fight."
If you don't have it mentally, then you should step aside. If you can get it back, fine, come back.
If you start to fade physically...RETIRE.

No...I think he believed he could beat Calzaghe.

But he was shot to pieces. If you can't physically do it, then you can't do it. Once he got cut, the moral victory was to finish the fight and not allow it to get stopped.

He did it best. He just didn't have it in him.

you don't know wtf you're talking about. Roy is old and was getting his ass kicked in there. When you're old, tired, and hurting from getting beaten, you're body doesn't respond very well.

Roy impressed me with his heart, he certainly tried, he was hurting and bleeding, but he didn't give up. Calzaghe was far too active and quick for Roy. Roy looked sluggish and just old in there. Another thing, is Roy can't fight off the ropes very well, and he doesn't have a defense like Hopkins. When Roy is against the ropes, all he does is absorb punishment. Those body shots by Joe were taking their toll after a while. So after all that, it's not hard to see why Roy wasn't throwing how you apparently expect him to.

          Keyboard boxer.

I wouldnt say ashamed, but dissapointed.. i thought he could of done alot better all he had to do was let hes hands go and throw more combos like the old Roy.. and from seeing all the intervew and 24/7 i thought Roy himself knew this and thats what i thought was going to happen..

I knew Calzaghe was going to win from the second round especially not taking advantage of the knockdown once again, I have said only way for Jones to win this was if he let hes hands go and threw combos, but it didnt happen and i spent 11 rounds yelling out my tv for him to do so lol..

you're a typical Roy fan is all - blinded by past greatness and think he can still win. I see you're a Tyson fan too. I bet you fell for all three or four of his comebacks too, right? I'm not poking fun, man, just noting a trend.

all Roy has to say is a few magic words and suddenly "he's back"

I can't wait to hear his excuse come out in a few months about how he would have won if he could see. we all know it's coming. it ALWAYS comes eventually.

remember when he blamed Tarver 3 ON HIS DAD? He said he LOST ON PURPOSE and his ****ing idiot fans believed it. Man I ****ing hate Roy for that comment

                      No.

Sure it was disappointing to see Roy lose so comfortably but the fight is generally what I expected and predicted. I knew Roy's straight right would be a factor but I thought Calzaghe's volume and chin would see him win a semi-wide UD. The cut exacerbated things and I think Roy lost by a more significant margin than he otherwise would have.

It doesn't change the fact that Roy has had an outstanding career - the best of the last 2 decades. He is fighting at under 50% his best right now and he should have walked away a fair few years ago but its not like he is the first fighter who has found it too difficult to leave the spotlight.
