I made a thread about Roy, I still think he benifitted from a weak LHW division. Great talent, but weak division made him stand out!!!!!!!!!

You really think that was a paycheck performance on the part of Roy? He fought the whole way through. Make no mistake about that.

Roy Jones is an all time great, and he had a fantastic career.

Obviously he is far past his best, but he showed great desire in wanting to go for the biggest fight out there, and he still had some good moments.

He showed a lot of heart and deserves full respect for that.

I disagree. All we saw tonight was that Roy does not have the stamina to keep up with a volume puncher like Joe.

Despite what HBO would like you to believe, Roy was not taking tremendous amounts of punishment, he was not getting beaten up the the point where the fight should have been stopped as the suggested, and he was in the fight much more than they would have led you to believe.

I had a lengthy discussion about this fight a few months ago with REE****YALUSS, and my main point was that Roy wouldn't have the stamina, nor the legs to come out on top in this fight. His speed is still there, his reflexes are not gone, his timing is still there.

It is the same thing that happened to Bernard. It doesn't mean he doesn't have it any more, it just means he can't win those kinds of fights any more.

I would still pick Roy to beat every other fighter in the division right now, including Bernard, and especially Chad Dawson.

People are neglecting that Joe Calzaghe is a truly incredible fighter, and as I have made a habit of pointing out, he is not even close to being as hittable as people have made him out to be.

I am however disappointed in Roy's corner. Not only did they fail to take care of his cut, when Roy let them know he was out of answers, all I heard from them is "I know". Thats now what he was looking for Merk, he was looking for some outside input.

Roy was alone in there tonight. His corner was AWOL when he needed them most. That is the difference between was Bernard was able to do against Joe and what Roy was able to do against Joe. Bernard had Naseem Richardson, John David Jackson and Freddie Roach.

Unfortunately for Roy, he has never needed to fall back on his corner, so his corner was only there to give him water, and wipe him down. When he needed them, they weren't ready.

He didn't have it going into the third Tarver fight and still his dumbass fans spout the same ****ing **** every fight. It gets old. Y'all are worse than Tyson's fans used to be.

It's like every excuse Roy makes (and trust me, he'll make an excuse in a couple months if not sooner), you start to believe it more and more until another comeback is feasible.

Tarver killed this man in 2003 and he's been dead ever since

I definitely disagree with you, it wasn't just his stamina, he couldn't get his punches off anymore as the fight went on, it's a classic case of a fighter getting old and he was taking a lot of shots in there, maybe you didn't see them but he was taking a lot of shots, way more shots than I have seen him take cleanly. His speed also got worse as the fight went on, he needs to know how to call it a day and today is the day to do that, I don't want to see him get hurt, it's clear he can't beat the top level guys anymore.

I agree about the cornerwork though, horrible job working on that cut.
