Telefutura Cancels Solo Boxeo, Another Big Blow

Last month boxing fans were given the news of ESPN cancelling their "Wednesday Night Fights" series, now Telefutura has canceled their "Solo Boxeo" series, which airs live on Friday nights. Due to the ailing economy and to cut down on the heavy costs involved with the show, the popular program that began in 2000 - will end in December. [details]

this is terrible news imo . . . they put on some good fights. bigger loss then Wed night fights imo cause very rarely were those fights all that good, but soloboxeo often had interesting fights to watch

This isn't good for getting boxing on free TV. Solo Boxeo had some really entertaining bouts. At least Versus seems to be picking up some of the slack, putting on some good fights in the next few months. the Cunningham vs. Adamek card should be good, as well as seeing Winky again a week earlier.

Just terrible news for boxing fans. This was an important outlet for prospects and fringe contenders. This is a big hot for televised boxing to take. I'm totally bummed about it.

Solo Boxeo going off air really ***ing sucks, how meny prospects get on there, that show cant go off the air, now we'er stuck with ESPN. **** **** it gave a lot of good shows, protest this ****.

Maybe if I even had the chance to get a channel like Telefutura I might be able to watch something like this. ****** station that isnt offered in every area and boxing for the most part is ran moronic also. Its not a big blow to boxing, its a big blow to these dumb **** promoters that want to give **** prospects 100k. Lower tickets and fighters pay, then boxing will thrive on regular tv. Earth to all the huge promoters in the sport why the **** you think the Joe V Roy fight sells like ****. Maybe its that you have to shell out 15 bucks just to see any decent fight with HBO another 10 for showtime and 50 bucks to watch any huge fight. Not to mention 300 bucks on a decent ticket to get into the fight. The greedy ****s are keeping this sport underground. Roy and Joe don't deserve millions to fight the sport isnt bringing in cash to pay the fighters that kind of money. ****** ****s are calling the shots.
