Roy Jones: "Joes gonna have to killl me to beat me on saturday now"

From a psychological perspective, that comment may indicate Roy is not in the correct state of mind for the fight. The fact that he is even considering losing is cause for concern, also referencing "death" in any way shape or form highlights an underlying fear.
Now there is nothing wrong with fear per say, but Roy (and I hope I'm wrong here) seems to have a subconscious lack of confidence and belief about this fight, something which could have a detremental effect on his performance.Comment

Not on a conscious level. That sentence and attitude highlights Roy's subconscious mode of thought, it's happened to many fighters before.
The point is, a fighter who is fully confident about an upcoming fight, will not even entertain another scenario than victory for himself. To talk about Joe winning at all shows he may not be fully confident.
This is what I have learned from studying sports psychology, I'm not trying to put down Roy's chances, take away from your excitedness about the aforementioned comments or give the Calzaghe nuthuggers more ammo, I'm simply making an observation, which may indeed be wrong.
But joe has done the same...... you lookin to deep into it man, way too deep
ex.) i kno my sister cant beat me in fight night, but at the same time ill tell her "if u win ill buy u this" ok jus cuz i entertained that thought does not mean im less confident
roy knows he will winComment
