Poor Joe, wasn't even getting any love in his own country.

Hamed was a bad ass though, one of my all time favorites! Say what you want but I enjoyed every one of his fights...

I think people might be reading a bit too much into this. All he's basically saying is:

"When I was a young prospect, I wanted to be in the same position as the mega-famous world champion". Nothing wrong with that.

Did Calzaghe actually say "I hated living in his shadow?" Because that quote doesn't appear in the article.

Even Amir Khans fights get more coverage in the papers over here than Joe.

Hamed should of used Calz tactics and gone after an ancient Azumah Nelson

The reason joe doesn't get much publicity is because he doesn't have much personality! If he had his fathers attitude, no doubt he'd be a much more interesting character. Nas had charimsa, even though he used to talk crazy, he was fun to listen to and people wanted to hear what he had to say!

i remember that snooker match...naz said to the snooker player(forgot his name) to sit ringside at his next fight and see if he (naz) gets distracted lol

younger prospect???????????? aint calzaghe older then naz? Naz was Mr BoX office, To this day no boxer brings the same excitement. Joe is a decent fighter but he aint got the appeal the prince had.

                  Both are important
Both are not important, Calzaghe is one of the best fighters at his weight class we have seen in this era of boxing.

Naz is a flash in the pan, nothing but a footnote in the history of boxing. A loud mouth quitter who got shut up by Barerra and crawled back to whatever hole he came from to begin with.

One part of the film will focus on Calzaghe leaving promoter Mickey Duff to hook up with Frank Warren. Calzaghe stayed with Warren for over a decade before the two of them parted ways not long after Joe's close decision win over Bernard Hopkins in April. [details]
if calzaghe wanted to be out of hamed's shadow he would've came over to the US and fought rjj and hopkins when they were in their prime.

                      its about Joe being bitter...

Even now the british public love naz more then Joe
Hell they love Hatton more then they love Joe
and thats not based on achievements either
of course they do the british or rather the english love bruno, they love benn, they love hatton and they love naz as well. none of these boxers is comparable to Joe calzaghe, yet joe doesn't get the same support that these guys do - why? the reason is simple joe is welsh.

when joe was a young gun he was often fighting in england against an englishman!! who do you think the fans were supporting? its only really when he was around 25/26 and around about that time that he beat eubank that he started to get recognition from the english!!

this all added up and made it harder for joe, yes i know that joe isn't great at self promotion but if he were english i can't help but think that he would have got the support he has now alot sooner in his career, he would have a similar following to hatton and that alone wouldn't have made him such an avoided fighter.

he would have still been a good champion and maybe he would have been avoided by some fighters but he would have been lucrative and other fighters like johnson and tarver would have pushed for the fights with him.

some of it as mentioned is joes fault, he declined the opportunity to become CK's underwear model, declined the chance to come on a childrens programme he isn't good at self promotion and in that aspect he has no-one else to blame but himself.
