Who said it would get to the ground , I like MMA and UFC alot , the stand up of 99% of cage fighters is useless compared to elite boxers , Mayweather would destroy him with the first combination landed , that would follow the first jab , I can see the MMA fighter being very wary about getting into punching range , his only hope would be to crash tackle him to the ground and if Floyd countered on the way in and propped him in anyway its all over , if it got to ground Floyds in trouble , Floyd by 1st round knockout .
How would Floyd Mayweather fair in the Octagon vs. Faber

Floyd would get beat up bad. Boxer's who have no other fighting skills can't compete with mixed martial artist at the top level. It's just not fair. It's like asking an NBA player to go head on with an NFL running back.Comment

not exactly..if you watch mma, then most of the fighters that can defend against takedowns like cro cop, bj penn, arlovski, liddell, rampage, etc. don't have extensive backgrounds in wrestling if any at all. takedown defense doesn't seem like a hard thing to develop. if boxers did have takedown defense or developed it, they'd easily be a force.Comment

Faber is the new Sherk. Completely overrated online. The truth will set you free! I could never guerantee that but I would bet a good chunk of money on it. Faber would take him to the ground, pound him for a bit then choke him out with ease.....That's if he could get past maybe a two punch combo as he went for the takedown. (shouldn't be a problem for him though.)Comment

All the guys you just metioned have been envolved in some form of grappling since they started fighting, less Mirko Filipovic. But he ain't a boxer, he's a KICKBOXER. That means he can use his hands AND feet. That alone gives HIM an advantage against a pure boxer. Now throw in the grappling part of it. Boxers don't stand a chance. They can get lucky of course, but common sense here says they get whooped against a top MMA practitioner. liddell would disagree. so would bj penn. and none of those fighters have an extensive background in wrestling, liddell and rampage are the only ones with backgrounds in wresting, i would know i follow mma.All the guys you just metioned have been envolved in some form of grappling since they started fighting, less Mirko Filipovic. and the thing about kickboxing is it might involve more weapons, but you can't follow up as fast after a kick like you can with a punch. if you've ever watched k-1, one of the best kickboxers over there ernesto hoost was stopped two times by bob sapp who threw almost nothing but hooks. rarely any kicks. for th emost part, it will boil down to skill.Comment

Well, you must not follow it enough, BJ has been doing BJJ since you were probably born. Arlovski is a life long Russian Sambo practitioner.liddell would disagree. so would bj penn. and none of those fighters have an extensive background in wrestling, liddell and rampage are the only ones with backgrounds in wresting, i would know i follow mma.
