If it weren't for New Order owning the Hacienda (in addition to all their other influence) there would be no Madchester.

Oh and one other thing I forgot, I think madchester influenced Big beat acts also, as well as production for britpop like Oasis. So yeah it went far.

Just saying you can't even begin to downplay the impact old school hip hop artists had. Nor the impact that American House (house was invented in Chicago as well as "Techno") had on Madchester or modern music.
