If we are talking about prime, I have to go Wright.

I made a poll like this when I was a newcomer here and was mainly a Mayweather fan instead of a boxing fan, and I still went Wright back then.

The 18 consecutive punches he blocks against Mosley in the rematch might be the most incredible thing I have ever seen in boxing.

Winky has 1 kind of defense, and he is excellent at that.

Mayweather makes (made) people miss at every range, moving, blocking, slipping, rolling...

I choose Mayweather because I like versatility, but I can perfectly see why people would vote Winky.

Honestly Maywhether techniques are better, even though there were no punches landing with winky either. The reason why is because maywhether was slipping the blows whereas winky was blocking them, both techniques will work, but slipping the blows keeps your opponent from hitting you at all, whereas with winky's technique the arms get hit.

Yeah but when you made that poll, Mayweather didnt comfortably stand on the inside while Hatton was trying to wrestle him and turn him to land a single clean blow. Curious if this has an effect.

Plus let's face it any poll including PBF is meaningless, as the result really only depends if there are more worshippers or haters logged on.

!!!Shawn told me something once that also swings my vote for Wright.

He said that the shell Mayweather uses (the shoulder roll) goes to hell against a southpaw because of the angle the punches come from. If you watch against Judah, he's pretty correct about it.

I think that takes away from his defense by quite a bit, considering it is really only great against orthodox fighters.

            Anyone agree?

as someone said mayweather due to his versatility of defense. He has many types of defenses and can block anything at any time, on the move, backpeddling or going forward etc whereas Wright just has one very good one dimensional shell and that defense inhibits his offense a little bit because when you have a shell like that it limits the types of punches you can throw and how hard you can throw them. Tyson had it but it was different because he was bent at the knees and generated power through thrust and twisting, Wright though stands up right with that defense and has zero power due to it. Whereas mayweather's defense is more fully integrated with his offense and is thus more effective in the long run

True that, those looping shots start landing (Judah, Corley, Mitchell). The staright ones not much of a problem

But the solution he showed he can find is pretty good. right? Hands up, and pressure. And boy does it work! (For the viewers too, since those 3 fights are among the most entertaining he is been in).

Like I said, I can see why you would pick winky, I just believe in versatility.

Well mayweather switched up his defense vs judah, he has far better allround defense skills, and is always effective with it.
