its definitely premature to say hopkins will be mentioned THIRD behind roy jones and calzaghe.....roy jones beat him before hopkins became hopkins, and like i said earlier, the calzaghe fight was, is, and always will be a very disputed decision.........

sorry to say, but calzaghe will never get the recognition of a roy jones or a bernard hopkins, whether he beats roy or not...........

the order in which hopkins and roy will be mentioned determines whether or roy ends his career on a great note......those bad losses he took really hurt him, and the competition he has faced since doesn't speak well for him. when was the last time hopkins fought anybody not on somebody's pound for pound list? as of right now, i'd put hopkins slightly ahead of jones, but like i said it depends on what happens saturday, and what happens after that.....calzaghe will always be third when mentioned with these two.....thats just how it is.
Good read man. Your a good poster altough sometimez I wonder why your red k'd.

    Green K btw

first of all, besides the very first pro fight of his career, the only other consensus loss hopkins has is the one to roy jones........just as the taylor and calzaghe fights were ruled in favor of his opponent, there are many ppl out there who just as easily feel hopkins won all 3 of those fights........

that's the reason why there really is no need for a joe calzaghe rematch, should joe not want to give him one....first of all it was a SD, and like i noted before many writers, fans, and fighters alike feel that decision went to the wrong man......the court of public opinion can be stronger than the judges' rulings sometimes. the roy jones rematch is much more important to hopkins at this point, that's why i'll be rooting for him saturday....

perhaps the more important fact being overlooked, is the fact that all hopkins's losses seem to be very disputed....besides his first fight, and the first rjj fight, no man can claim they w/o a doubt beat him....i don't care how you look at the taylor and calzaghe fights......

but i stopped reading this after the writer stated, "hopkins had to fake a low blow to get a badly needed rest b/c of the POUNDING he was taking." ????????????????

its like this guy cant make up his mind. one minute he's praising the guy, then the next he writes bs like that above. i dont know which fight he saw, but i've yet ti hear anybody, including those who think calzaghe really did win, say hopkins took a "pounding" in that fight...........
some good points.i for one thought joe won their fight clearly, but did not give hopkins a pounding.i for one would consider paying them not to fight again,as it was a horrible fight to watch.fact is ,no matter who you like out of the three, all of them have had great careers and achieved a lot,and they all deserve the utmost respect.that said, hopkins faking that low blow was pretty cringeworthy,a shame, because i think people would think more of him if he didnt do **** like that.i am old school i spose in the sense that i dont like it when fighters complain in the ring, thats why you have a referee! i counted at least a dozen times in that fight when he him joe in the nuts(not the thigh like he hit bhop 1 time) on the blind side of the ref,and not once did joe complain.not to take away from bhops legacy.a great fighter he truly is,but this guy trumpets loud about being from the mean tough streets of philly, yet goes in for constant moaning and play acting in the ring, and is the most ungracious fighter in defeat in the history of the sport..and that is a real shame

And Calzaghe is one of the even fewer champions who has never lost. What's your point? I don't get it...

So Hopkins is a "great" because he only loses by SD, yet Calzaghe is a nobody even though he has never lost, even to the "great" Hopkins?

Only in a country where George Bush is considered a wise and intelligent leader could ******ity like this be allowed to exist.

that calzaghe fight SHOULD'VE gone to hopkins....when i heard split decision, it knew it was gon be some ****. like sombody posted yesterday, if you watch the exchanges in that fight again, in slow motion, you'll see the kind of punches joe was landing.....arms and shoulders....while he was getting hit in the face.

but like i say, thats another thing that makes hopkins so great. the fights he lose, are still disputed decisions, except the first rjj fight.....
