I think this is a tough fight for Bautista because Ruiz can actually fight. Yeah he's coming off a loss but it's to a very good fighter in Morel.

Both guys spent significant parts of their career as bantamweights. This will be a tough fight for Bautista, Ruiz is probably the second best fighter he's ever faced.

It might never have occurred to you, but Ruiz has been a top contender for a long time. He handed 2000 Olympian Clarence Vinson his first defeat, holds two wins over Ricardo Vargas, Jorge Lacierva (who gave Celestino Caballero a hell of a fight for the title last year) and Cristobal Cruz, who just beat Orlando Salido at featherweight.

Those things might not mean much to you because they haven't been trumpeted in the media but they are significant victories.
