mthalanes got that tight defense so i figured donaire probably would have won a UD and not necessarily looked great in it (think forbes-dlh or forbes-berto especially if it was stopped early on a cut) but i was never worried about him because he didnt have much punching power and i couldnt see him hurting donaire.

Something gotta be wrong this the original article. Donaire isn't a WBO super flyweight titlist, which is actually F. Montiel of Mexico. Anyway, I watched the Donaire fight after Mijares - Darchinyan. Donaire was impressive, perhaps not so impressive as he was in his last two fights, but impressive enough considering his long term ring absence. As many guys have already pointed out, Donaire - Darchinyan II is a MUST TAKE PLACE battle.

Donaire controlled the early rounds, but Mthalane was not too far behind. Mthalane stood his ground. As a fan of Donaire, I really didnt like this type of win, but a win is a win.

Donaire changed is style up which I thought confused Mthalane and probably would of sealed the win for Donaire if it wasnt for the stoppage. Sad sight seeing Mthalane get this fight taken away from him by a stoppage after the hardwork he put into his debut.

Donaire should give a rematch to solidify this win if Mthalane wants one. If not then that Donaire vs. Vic Darchinyan 2.

i thought donaire did well . . . but . . . i didnt think he looked impressive, like he didnt really show up to the fight and at the time of the stoppage it looked like the fight was maybe beginning to turn to Mthalane favor. we'll never know now, but that was the sense i was getting.
