  • Had Hatton and Calzaghe started thier careers in the U.S

Do u think they would be considered as great or have the record that they do now?

The minute Ricky stepped foot on U.S soil, he barely made it out of a fight with a b-level fighter in Luis Collazo, which in the opinion of many, was a contraversial decision. He went on to beat Castillo, only to get starched by Floyd.

As for Joe. His first fight on U.S soil, he was dropped, and won a close decision via pity pat. Many also thought this decision was contraversial do to the fact that Hopkins landed the much more meaningful blows, which in return, Joe threw nothing but flurries of slaps (which he himself admitted).

Funny how both fighters look unstoppable until they step on U.S soil.

in fairness to ricky he has no business above 140. i also really can't take nothing away from jae against bhop man. the guy just is great, and has aside roy never really been clearly beaten imo. so for me i think they would have both been pretty good here as well.

at the very least you can say that they would've gotten more exposure which would've upped their profiles.

but at the same time they would've been exposed to better competition and had more pressure to make big fights that they could've lost.

Dude, the nationalism is getting tiring. You sent Lacy who was the best at the time, he was "the next Tyson" and he was supposed to KO Joe in two rounds, but he got embarrassed and splattered. Many other American fighters would get dropped in the UK or Europe, it really depends who they are fighting. Kessler, for example, would embarrass many of the USA superstars.

        Of course
there are more quality fighters overall in the USA than in the UK, that's a given, seeing as there are more far people in the USA.

UK is about the size of Kansas, so considering this, it doesn't do too badly at all.

PS: I'm not from the UK, I just don't have blinkers on.

PPS: If Calzaghe only threw slaps, please tell us why Bernard didn't just walk through them and knock him out.

Hatton fought in America before Collazo early in his career, the fight was tough, he was ripped to peices by uppercuts causing a massive gash only to come back with the most brutal body shots i have ever seen.

Chris Eubank started his career in America and remained undefeated.

What difference does it make starting your career in America? Are your bums better than our bums?

Hatton and Calzaghe are clearyly without argument two of the most overrated fighters boxings seen in a while.

You're talking like Collarzo was the first American Ricky fought... and that American fighters where the only people at LWW worth fighting.

Ditto with Calzaghe, who at SMW was rocking the world stateside that he didn't fight.
