not just prime, but who is better overall. fighter, legacy, resume, accomplishments, record, etc......take it all into consideration, and decide.

only problem is that you are gonna have cal-slappy fans say Roy cuz if joke gets da victory they gonna make him their superman...but on da real its too hard 2 call..we will have to get a rematch. OH & Bernard did beat joke cal-slappy!

Bernard Hopkins is better overall. Better fighter, better legacy, basically more accomplished. RJJ isn't far behind and I'd say he is a better athlete.

Roy beat hopkins
Hopkins did 20 defences with best wins over oscar and tito (roy beat tito)
Roy went to heavyweight and won a title
Roy moved up and won belts in every division while hopkins stayed in the weak middleweight division
the best fighter Roy beat (Toney) is better than the best Hopkins beat (Pavlik?)


Jones is the better fighter whichever way you look at it.

While there may not be a James Toney level fighter on B-Hop's resume B-Hop faced the tougher opponentz.

bernard has a better chin but people overblow the "roy got a glass chin" thing. he got caught flush by a antonio tarver and it was a punch he didn't see. the glen johnson fight was just too soon after a ko loss for an old , past prime fighter. roy's chin is solid.

defense technically probably goes to bernard. roy's defense level is similar to ali as those 2 in their prime depended on speed and movement for their defense. neither roy and ali were technically sound defensively as can be seen when they got older and lost their speed. difference is ali had a granite chin which made up for not being technically sound defensively and ali mastered the skill of clinching (or allowed to clinch more by the refs )

roy won belts at 160 , 168 , 175 and 201+

his biggest wins toney , hill , mccallum , hopkins , ruiz trumps bernards.

while bernard fought guys that were champions in smaller divisions coming up to meet him , roy moved up divisions to challenge bigger champions.

you'll mention bernard beating tarver at 175 to say he beat a bigger champion but roy beating john ruiz for the heavyweight title trumps that. fact is as much as people make fun of john ruiz...he's a 3-TIME heavyweight champion. fact is while bernard beat great fighters that were smaller , roy beat great fighters that went on to win cruiserweight and heavyweight belts afterwards.

funny how people talking out of their ass and questioning roy's resume disappears when you talk details.

my guess they're young and they didn't really watch roy in his prime.

roy beat every single guy who was ranked in the top 10 when he reigned at 175 with the exception of darius michalczewski. both are to blame for that fight not happening but between dariusz and roy who do you think would be more afraid of who?
