Him, Benn, Eubank and Collins were fighting at different weight divisions when they called him out, he then moved up in weight to fight Toney in 1994, I remember Benn saying he didn't really want Jones after the McClellan fight which was in 1995, Eubank then lost to Collins twice in '95, Collins fought Eubank twice in 1995 then fought Benn twice in 1996, maybe it could have happened in 1997 but Jones has unfinished business with Montell Griffin that year.

Nunn-Jones could have happened had Nunn not lost to Toney and it probably even had a better chance of happening had he not lost Liles then Rochiggiani, but I've read that Jones didn't really want to fight Nunn because of his style and stance.

Michalczewski wasn't willing to leave Germany for a fight with Jones I believe.

      Hopkins....60/40 I kick yo ass.

Not sure about Liles, he was pretty inactive though.

Jones certainly didn't fight the best competition, but he didn't duck them either. Also, i think most people would agree that just by watching Jones in his prime they would come to the conclusion that he would win against most of the guys you have named.

Seriously, if you're questioning a prime RJJ then this board will never be happy with any fighter.

we can only form an opinion on what we have been told but im inclined to think its to much of a coincidence that Jones never got one of these fights but found the time to beat the Richard Hall's,Lucas's of the world instead

Those guys were much more willing to take a fight with Jones because of the money and I bet they were willing to take a smaller slice of the split in the fight, easier to negotiate with those guys.

WTF bad era Benn,Eubank,Collins,Nunn,Darius,Hopkins 2,Calzaghe,Liles there were plenty of challenges out there for Jones but the Jones fans would have you believe they did not want a peice of Roy

btw dont get posting the Brannon interview ive seen it

are we to believe Jones could not find any other credible oponents willing to fight him than Frazier,Hall etc
Spot on. Great post. Its a shame that someone with Jones' incredible natural talent couldnt express it against better opposition more consistently.

It was like Brazil playing Rotheram half the time.

fair enough i just dont buy it that out of all the guys Jones could of fought these are the best he could come up with and he could not make a fight with the numerous good fighters around his weight

                    even at a catch weight
