So did Lacy, and Kessler, I think. Both seemed totally unprepared for what they faced in the ring. Byron Mitchell expected a fairly easy KO win (I remember him saying something like that a few weeks before that fight, if I'm actually remembering correctly).
Hop said that to sell the fight that and his trying to be ******
I agree that Lacy thought he would have a easy time with Joe
but i doubt anyone else has ever took Joe lightly they know what there up against

        I highly doubt it.

If he done this, who would he then need to beat to be a ATG
Even without Calzaghe and B-hop rematch, Jones is already ATG maybe top 11-20...

RJJ is on there because of his heavyweight exploits, no doubt.

Hopkins is on there for his record number of defenses at middleweight.

Pac is on there because he beat Barrera and Morales.

Joe has both a longer streak than Hopkins and he would hold a win over two fighters from the list, just like Pac. If it works for Hopkins and Pac, why wouldn't it work for Joe? He is also undefeated in achieving the same feats as those two.

TBH, Joe probably shouldn't be on an ATG list, but you simply devalue your own arguement with comments like that.

he's not one of these boxers who has nothing but boxing and cannot live without it. He's rich, got a family and enjoys working on TV I can see him being a pundit in a couple of years.
How do you know he's not 'one of these boxers whom cannot live without it'? What's to back this up? I sense an assumption or hunch that's simply misguided.

To the contrary Boxing is all he's ever known from a very young age. He's said himself several times that he loves the sport, it's in his blood, his life and he couldn't completely leave it. He's already set-up a promotional agency and his promoting his next fight, plans to continue promoting and said he'd even possibly train.

He has never sought media attention to any great degree, only been on TV a few times, nowhere near as much as someone like Hatton.

No he's on there because he has fought a ton of great fighters and beat them, he also has fought up and down the weight divisions and won. THAT qualifies him.

Hopkins and Pac are maybe's, Hopkins because he lost too many big fights and Pac because he's not finished yet.

Numerous interviews given over the last 5 years.

he started saying "I will retire in 2008" before the Kessler fight that I can remember, and he's talked about how he doesn't like being in the Gym unless he has a fight to prepare for.

He has never sought media attention to any great degree, only been on TV a few times, nowhere near as much as someone like Hatton.
you obviously don't live in a region that has welsh local TV.

That's him talking about retiring from fighting, not retiring from boxing. Everyone sportsmen has their performing days come to an end some day and some continue in the sport. You said he's not one whom can't live without boxing, which is wrong. He said he could even come back and fight one day, but that regardless he'll be involved with boxing as it's all he knows and loves it, so cannot live without it. The opposite of what you claimed.

Obvious huh, would that be another assumption? Actually I'm half Welsh and have experienced it first hand, not to mention watch and go through a fair amount of Welsh media coverage. It's no surprise the smaller locality of a countries leading sportsmen is going to be on TV more not by choice or seeking it, but my the media and journalists having way more coverage of him because he's the local sports hero. He also goes along with way more interviews in Wales because they often stay local which he prefers, less lime light yet he's proud to be doing his bit for Wales.
