I know Joe is in a lot better shape though then those two are..

Also....everybody thinks Calzaghe is an "easy win" until they get into the ring with him. I think the only one that isn't underestimating Calzaghe is RJJ, which may give him a significant advantage that nobody's ever had before. Not saying it'll win him the fight, but I think it gives him something nobody's had to this date.

          I highly doubt it.

If he done this, who would he then need to beat to be a ATG
          Yes, I would

I'm not really into the "ATG" debate, I just wanted to mention a couple of things that always seem to slip people's minds. Whether he's a candidate for ATG...I dunno, there are alot of questions that can be raised there, but by the same token, if you look at RJJ resume...with the exception of a few names like Hopkins, and Toney (both were much younger, and less experienced when Roy beat them), they're not so different until Roy's move to heavyweight, and then back down...and we all know how much that hurt Roy.

i think calzaghe has the tools and skills to become an ATG but he just didnt fight the right fights to do it. i say calz needs 3 more BIG wins on his resume, and hes up there with the all time elite.

like it or not... pacquiao became an atg by beating two old fighters (well, past their prime) in morrales and barrera.

You fight 21 defenses then, I bet you the weakest person you consider a bum on Calzaghes resume beats you in those 21 defenses in a fight.
Actual I'm a Brit and a Calzaghe fan.

However maybe 3 people per generation make it to ATG at best, to do so requires you to be in a Stacked Division and make multiple defences against other potential ATG's the one who dominates those and is part of the best prime Vs prime fights of that Era is ATG the others are just great fighters.

Even people who have been p4p no1 might never make it as ATG imho.

                    ATG of 1990-2010: RJJ - ODLH - Tyson maybes Hopkins - Barrera - Morales - Pac -.

I think Hopkins expected an easy win over Zaggs...I don't know if he specifically said so, but you can't say **** like "I ain't never gonna let no white boy beat me" (paraphrase) and expect people to think you're expecting a tough fight. So did Lacy, and Kessler, I think. Both seemed totally unprepared for what they faced in the ring. Byron Mitchell expected a fairly easy KO win (I remember him saying something like that a few weeks before that fight, if I'm actually remembering correctly).
