    Super Middleweight Proposition!

So the other day, my buddy Melly-Mel mentioned something that I had never really thought of. I forgot his exact words but the idea was that Bernard Hopkins performed better at 170 than 175.

    Now, what if...............

The middle weight limit stays at 160

The supermiddle weight limit changes to 170 instead of 168

The light heavyweight limit stays at 175

The Cruiserweight limit stays at 200

What do you guys think? I think a lot of people would benefit from this.

he performed better because he was fighting a fighter who was tailor made for him, over rated, basic, crude, orthodox and as his trainer said - they turned this joker into a superstar.

I think it's completely illogical to have 10lbs separating MW and SMW, 5lbs from SMW to LHW, and 25lbs from LHW to CW.

If anything I'd favor moving the SMW limit to 170 and the LHW limit to 180 or 185. I'm not endorsing this, only saying it makes more sense than your proposal.

I don't think you should have division separated by only 5 lbs. I'd rather have it the old fashioned way i.e. no 168 lbs division at all.

You're right. It's really just invented for the alphabet boys to collect more sanctioning fees.

If SMW never existed, do you think Calzaghe would've been fighting at 160 or at 175?

                175.

Joe always struggled making 168, no way he makes 160.

I don't know about his weight issues early in his career. You really got to ask the limey posters or someone who knows Joe's history better than me.

In the latter part of his career he would be an LHW that's for sure.
