Listen, I hate Calzaghe as much as you (maybe more, actually) but this thread is just done to ensure you can bump it and slate the result of the fight, whatever it may be. If Slappy wins, RJJ was shot. If RJJ, Slappy lost to someone who was shot.

Personally, I give RJJ a, er, shot. Really. I've been re-watching his last 3 fights, and it's given me cause for optimism, more so than I've had prior to watching them.

Roy isn't totally shot dude. Totally shot fighters can't do what Roy has done in patches over his last 3 fights. He is massively faded obviously, but not completely done yet.

I think you might get a little surprise at Roy's performance against Joe.

I'd put up shots of Tarver III but frankly everything in that fight other than Round 4-5-11 are lowlights for Roy.

Incidentally this is the last time Roy fought anyone in the Top 10 legitimate at lLt. heavy. How many years ago was this?

In conclusion, Joe gets no credit for this fight. He deserves a nice payday and a nice ride off to the sunset, but this does not make him an ATG or greater than Jones.

in my opinion Roy wanted to go 12 rounds against Badi, Hanshaw and Tito, first, to see where is at after 12 rounds, and second, not to risk getting caught with something ******. Thats why he didnt go for the kill against Hanshaw on the 12th, after knoking him down in the 11th, and same reason why he didnt finish Tito...actually i think he didnt want to humiliate him also, his 2 knokdowns were unintentional for jones, he was surprised to see tito go down. I think Joe is in for a surprise soon.

it depends on how Roy wins. Foreman wasn't looking so good against Moorer, but then, BOOM...one shot and the lights went out. If that happens to Joe, I'll just say that's boxing. And considering Jones Jr. was once a great fighter, sometimes the Gods shine down for one moment.

If Roy dominates or wins a decision say 8-4, eh, that's sad on Joe's side.

I will say this, anybody in their 30's is more likely to have an "off" night...but hey, that's life.

Joe needs to win big. 8 rounds to 4 min. Knockout would be better.
