Hope you are right. Last thing we need is more casual Joe fans and Joe fanboys increasing the trolling and shilling to all new heights.

Finally watched it last night. Boy, wouldn't you kill to have Joe Calzaghe's life . Gotta love the sexy lady slaving in the kitchen.

I though the most interesting things came from Joe's mouth, not Roy's (who tends to talk for the sake of talking). He said a few things I took note of, one of which was "boxing more." "Using my footwork a lot more";"sitting down on my punches not pitty-pattying"; and "not throwing as many punches." All very nice in theory and he's proven he can do all four already. Nevertheless, him attempting do that all at once signifies a mighty big change in style. Not a good thing - kind of reminds me of Pavlik believing he had to do something different to counteract Hopkins, "intelligent, more patient yada yada." Calzaghe has to be Calzaghe - I don't think he can get away from he style of throwing punches he's used for years, nor do I expect a drastic decrease in punches thrown. Very, very interesting.

There's no doubt Joe is as focused as he's ever been - and rightfully so as, if Jones isn't shot, he may be in a heap of ****. But from what I gauged, Jones is equally focused. Again, everyone is placing their bets. If Jones is shot, fight over. If he's not...hmmm. The next two episodes ought to be very telling.

      **edit**

I'll add that I picked Jones initially when this fight was negotiated but I have myd oubts about what he has left at this stage. Really hard to pick a fight like this when age plays such a huge role.

you mean joe isn't gonna get frustrated and throw a thousand missed punches like an amateur? but that's the best part!

Trying to cut down on his punches so he can selectively land harder ones and "box" with RJJ isn't a very bright strategy.

I don't think so - I think he moved up to 175 at the right time. In fact, I think he'll be even better, and more settled into the weight, against Jones.

Calzaghe is who he is, and any decline is probably offset by Jones' supposed rapid fall from grace.

Agree. Calzaghe would have to get seriously old overnight and lose his stamina. I doubt it.

I don't think Roy Jones made the right noises, 'If I lose, so what but if he loses'......that sounds awful to me.
I think he's trying to lure people into thinking that he's going to put on a half assed performance.

isn't it entirley possible that jones simply just got caught with a great left hand by antonio tarver? and then cameback way too quickly after the knockout? Even against Tarver the third time, it looked he could be real good still, but he was too focused on not getting knocked out. I don't think Jones is as shot as people think...
