even when its your first time fighting at a 170, and your opponent is on a vengeance coming off a loss leaving everything in the ring going for a knockout and not trying to eek out a decision?

In all seriousness, Calzaghe just seems to have fantastic stamina, and he doesn't sit down on his punches in the way that Pavlik does, so there's no shame in not throwing as much as Joe does. But I do think that a 26 year old who was doing everything he could to win would throw more punches than a 43 year old, at least is some of the rounds.

It's fine though. I've never been a pro boxer, and if I was, maybe I wouldn't go out all for victory either. However JC did all that he could to try and win, whereas I think Pavlik seemed to accept defeat long before the final bell.

And why hasn't anyone ever had Calzaghe against the ropes?
you think they are backing up cause he has power LOL! hopkins had calzaghe on the canvas i think that's a lot worse than being on the ropes imo.

Something was wrong with Pavlik. I'm not making any excuses for the guy, but he looked awful. It couldn't be just BHop. I would've rather seen him get KTFO and go down swinging then fight like he did.
