Who will step up again first: Sturm or Kessler

Here we have two typical Euro champs who spend their whole careers fighting fellow European nobodies. When the money is big enough, they step out of their hiding places and fight big names. If they win, they keep doing so. If they lose, they go back into hiding for years, pulling out of fights against big names because they think they deserve more money/don't want to lose again. I am really saddened that Kessler has taken the Sturm route. Both of these guys showed a lot of potential in their close losses (Sturm to Oscar and Kessler to Calzaghe). It's a simple question. Who, if either ever does, will take on a good name again first?

I ain't sure either of em ever will, but if I had to pick I'd say Kessler. Mostly cuz he can make some excitin fights and there's actually a demand from fans to see him face better comp. Not many peeps I know care much what Sturm does.

Back in 04 and 05, Sturm was talked about a lot just like Kessler is now. He had fans on these and other forums just like Kessler does now. Now there are no Sturm fans anywhere on here. Kessler will be in the same position midway through 2009. No one will give a damn about him.

I mean, Sturm and Kessler are way similar. They're both good fighters with good looks, so they're incredibly marketable. But they're also both Euro champs, which means good luck ever seeing them take on legit competition again.

It is pretty sad because I can see Kessler becoming a typical Eurochamp. It is a shame because he has talent and I think he could make some great fights with the other elite guys at 168 and 175. But as long as he stays at home and fights bums he will just ruin his career.

He certainly wasted all of 2008 just like what's his name back in 2005? Oh yeah, Sturm! I remember him! Lost a close one to Oscar and then...hmm...what ever happened to that guy?

Sturm is fighting Sylvester next which is actually a very good opponent for him.

Kessler's got options at 168 and 175. No way he owns the whole weight range or anything, but there's almost nobody in there I'd say he absolutely cannot beat. I like Kessler's style cuz he can box, defend, has a good workrate, some decent power, and fights back when he's pressed. I wanna see him fight some live bodies. Sturm is a talented boxer but don't do much for me. And MW is kinda stale. I don't see him fightin AA or Pavlik, and I think he'd lose to both anyway. Not much to really even be disappointed about imo.

Sturm looked pretty damn good against Oscar. He didn't show much power or anything but he hardly got hit and showed a terrific jab that Oscar could not avoid. There was a demand to see the guy in good fights, but he turned down Taylor.
