BoxingScene reports that Kessler's next title defense might be against Gusmyl Perdomo (15-2, 9 KO's).

Perdomo lost a decision to Dimitri Sartison who was dominated by Kessler in most of the rounds and stopped in the 12th.

It isn't just this fight though Tunney. He is not fighting guys of the standard that he should be. He is too good to waste his best years fighting these guys who are several notches below him. I find it annoying that a fighter with such a significant amount of talent is allowing this to happen to himself.

I agree with that, his prime is being wasted. But he had to fight Sartisan for the WBA title, and he never wanted to fight a bum like Haussler, but the idiots that run the WBA made Haussler the mandatory.

But now Kessler won't need to fight another mandatory for about a year, so he's free to choose anyone he wants. There's no way he will lose this opportunity to fight a decent opponent, perhaps the winner of Oganov vs. Dirrell. Green and Ward are both ranked by the WBA, either of those might be a suitable voluntary defense. Or he could try for a unification with Inkin, or offer the winner of Lacy vs. Taylor a shot at the WBA title.

I really hope this is aint true. I was happy that Kessler blew away Haussler like he was supposed to...it was a step up from his eh ok performance against Sartison. I was hoping he would actually start fighting the top guys at this point.
