Trust me I'm a full time Joe hater. But this was a masterful performance. What was great was the body work he did late which almost stopped Kessler. With Lacy the fight, it was over anyway. Although he outclassed Kess, he never quit which made it a better performance.
Joe's best performance was against Kessler....

Here's an excerpt from Graham Houston:
In his last fight Kessler regained the WBA title in impressive style when he wore down and stopped a previously unbeaten fighter, Dimitri Sartison, in the last round. The Dane usually doesn’t blow people out (although he flattened Markus Beyer with a perfect straight right hand), but his punches are sharp, fast and accurate and he does a good job of breaking his opponents down.
It will take an exceptional fighter to beat Kessler — Joe Calzaghe did it, but the Danish boxer was handicapped by an injured right hand and still fought well — and Haussler isn’t anything out of the ordinary.Comment

Yes thats true. The camp made it clear up to the Sartison fight that THIS time all went well and he was able to spar unlike last time.Comment

Yes. You can read about it on Graham Houstons site both in the preview of the Sartison fight and the Haussler fight.
On ESB today Kessler's american agent said this: "The broken right hand wasn't a rumour, though we didn't bring it up before or straight afterwards," Marley said. "You can't at that level with the money Joe and Mikkel earned. We were not going to disappoint HBO or 50,000 punters at Millennium Stadium."Comment

Sorry, Bat but every fighter makes excuses AFTER a fight. I really don't think Kessler had hurt his right hand, atleast not enough to affect his performance. I remember him landing some HUGE right hands and uppercuts early. Here's an excerpt from Graham Houston:

I think he did not spar to spare his hand for the fight. So he was able to box but did not spar. He later had surgery. But like you say every boxer has excuses. Joe won and that's that. I like Joe, so it's not so bad.
But I would like to see a rematch though.Comment

This is Mich. Marley on ESB today: "The broken right hand wasn't a rumour, though we didn't bring it up before or straight afterwards," Marley said. "You can't at that level with the money Joe and Mikkel earned. We were not going to disappoint HBO or 50,000 punters at Millennium Stadium."
Kessler's hand was surgically repaired after the fight. There's pics on Kessler's homepage from the hospital.Comment

kess didn't look bad in the fight but it was obvious as the fight wore on that he just couldn;t time JC which was not surprising as he he hadn't been sparring.
have to agree with you JC found another gear against kess - a gear that only some fighters have, the great ones in every era and imo we will only really appreciate joe once we begin to realize how good kess is.
